Hedgehogs in Acton

has anyone seen any in there gardens? We need to help them, their numbers have decreased by 95%?since the 50's

When I moved into the area 8 year ago I used to see them quite often - but nowadays I never do.  My theory is that the ones round where I live |(West Acton) have been killed off by people putting down poison for rats.

Used to have lots in my garden but haven't seen any for a couple of years. I live in West Acton too.......No rat poison put down hereby us though......

Yes, a real shame. I too used to regularly find the little fellows in my garden in West Acton but haven't seen one for over 10 years now.

Haven't seen any for about ten years and they used to be quite common in this part of Acton (opposite the park). Could be to do with rat poison,or maybe slug pellets.  The last one I saw was on a cold February morning - I made a bed in the undergrowth for him and gave him food,but he disappeared .

ok it's really depressing that numbers here in Acton seem to have noticeably declined in recent years, yes slug pellets seem to be one determining factor.  Apparently another factor is no gaps between peoples garden fences to enable the hogs to range, we're all being encouraged to speak to our neighbours and agree to create gaps. Think I will start with my neighbours. Also might investigate looking after abandoned ones.
