The site meeting is on Saturday, 12 October. We (i.e. the Churchfield Community Association) are urging everyone to gather in The Oaks car park(s) from 9.30am (the councillors are supposed to be there at 9.45 but you never know...). You can't talk to them - it's against the rules - but a good show of force and even some placards/banners would go down a treat. If it rains (and it's supposed to - damn!), a large group of grim-faced residents under umbrellas would be an even more impressive sight - that's what happened some years ago and we saw off that plan.The planning committee meeting is on Wednesday, 16 October at 7pm at Ealing Town Hall. The CCA has nominated Doug Carnegie to speak on its behalf. Doug, a journalist and broadcaster (Crimewatch, Watchdog, etc.), has been extremely active in the opposition campaign over the last months, including being involved in creating the video. He is supposed to be having a letter printed in this week's Gazette. We think he is the right person to put over our views in the short time (3 minutes!) available.Because the site involved is so big, two speakers in opposition are being allowed instead of just one, so we've put forward the Rev. David Brammer of St Mary's Church. If you've seen the video, you'll have seen how well he speaks and how passionately he feels about getting this right.We hope that everyone agrees that these choices of speakers are the right ones. If more people insist on putting their names forward, we will all have to negotiate to see who should speak, and if we can't agree, the speakers will be chosen by lot, which I think everyone would agree isn't ideal.
