We've been at Crown Street from when it wasn't even there but round the corner. I really like Dr Pambakian, who is the senior partner, and there is quite a stable team of doctors and then some floaters through.The appointments system is eminently sensible - call on the morning for that day and you always get seen - plus some booking ahead. It's slightly trickier to book nurse appointments.I have found the practice really helpful with my continuing skin problem and Dr Pambakian was VERY supportive of my home birth. (But that was in another century and the result is now 6 ft 2 and starting graduate school)

We're also with Crown Street Surgery (or Clown Sweet Sugery as my children used to call it).  The phone booking system, as mentioned by Sara, works quite well and you get seen the same day, however can be waiting on hold for a bit before the line is answered.

Crown Street has a website which will tell you more. http://www.crownstreetsurgery.nhs.uk/You can also now book some appointments on line (for a week in advance or more) with a doctor or nurse, though you need to be registered first.

Thanks. Is there a long waiting list at Crown Street if one wants to book an appointment not for the same day?

I think it depends what you want and if you are specifying a particular doctor or other health care professional.I prefer to go to Hammersmith hospital for my rather frequent blood tests because it's walk in and their vampires are full time phlebotomists and thus super-efficient

We are very happy with Cloister road surgery, near Noel road.It has a nice new building, they do some  minor surgery and procedures which save  you a trip to hospital.Mostly female GPs and all very nice.

If Crown St wanted a reference from me, they wouldn't get one.Have found out within the last few days a medical condition was not revealed to me in 2001.  Also Double Pneumonia and Pleurisy were not treated.Glad I move away from Crown St.
