Anyone have the address of the Ealing Food bank please?

http://ealing.foodbank.org.uk/ Not sure if it is open yet. There is a soup kitchen in West Ealing, Mattock Lane I believe.

I thought the local food bank was due to open in October... not sure why I think that though.

The first Ealing foodbank will open in Acton next month and will be based at the Oak Tree Fellowship (the old fire station) on the High Street. Organisers will be leafleting outside Morrisons this coming Saturday and collecting donations of food the following week. For more information, see ealing.foodbank.org.uk

See the Ealing foodbank website for full details, but basically:'Professionals from statutory and voluntary organisations such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, Citizens Advice Bureau staff, welfare officers, the police and probation officers, identify people in crisis and issue them with a foodbank voucher.Clients bring their voucher to a foodbank centre where it can be exchanged for three days supply of emergency food.'

Is this one being run by the Trussell Trust? they seem to do brilliant work in food banks and deserve loads of support.My understanding is that you do have to be referred by and agency or charity (which is quite Victorian in a way) but otherwise it is uncontrollable.Even at our asylum seekers drop-in centre, you have to be referred and then checked out - and that's run on food-bank like principles.

Their first collection day was advertised as 5 October, haven't heard of another one. They opened for business yesterday (applicants have to be referred and apply with a voucher) and are apparently open Fridays 2-4pm, so donations could always be taken to them then. Haven't heard whether they will be collecting regularly outside Morrisons.

ThanksI couldn't do 5 October but was hopeful.the best thing would be to get Morrisons to organise a drop off point as part of its CSR

The Acton food bank is supported by the Trussell Trust but it is actually being run by volunteers from local churches. There will be regular collections from various supermarkets in the Ealing/Acton area – the next collection is planned for 30 November at Tesco Hoover Building. Morrison's have already said they will set up a permanent drop off point in the store.

Oh good! I have bought some stuff but don't want it sitting in my hall till the end of November.So where should it go?

Well done! - Morrisons would be the best bet but just check it is set up before you take it there especially. If I find out for definite that the permanent collection point is ready then I'll let you know.
