Why oh Why!!!!!

We have just had our road resurfaced, after being in disrepair for years , as it is a private road we have paid for it ourselves,Why do all the children and some of their parents think it is ok to use our newly resurfaced road as a skate park, roller skates, roller blades and skate boards, and when you ask them to go away (p**s off) they take humbridge!!!!  When did private cease to mean private.

Diana, very nice it looks too. We have been here before but is there not a 'right of way' across your estate? The children must be really pleased to have smooth asphalt for their scooters........

What's wrong with them using it?There are so few places where kids can play safely.We jump through all sort of hoops to provide a safe place just once a month.Lucky you - having it all the time.I positively like the sound of kids playing...

Becuase it is a road, where residents drive, they would not let their children play in the middle of First Avenue or Ashfield.

I was going to congratulate you and your neighbours on being so brilliant as to recognise a need in your neighbourhood and to provide local kids with a fantastic play opportunity.  However, you do not seem too pleased by the influx of kids on wheels so maybe your next step should be to create a private gated community and just fence the whole lot off!  That will also stop the little dressed up buggers from coming begging for sweets at Halloween, carol singing etc. etc. I do wonder where this posh little enclave in Acton is though, so I can join Richard on his board.  I reckon we could give people a right good laugh!

Irene, Diane helpfully said it's "in Acton" so that's a good starting point ;-)I have a mental image of her outside her house waving a broom at the kids shouting "Get orrf my land!" or maybe "p**s orrf my land?!"Yep, gates are the only answer.

If you would all like to give me your addresses I will send the not so little kiddies round to your houses to vandalise,and terrorise your eldely neighbours!!!!! you lot sit in your poet corner domaine and try to riducule people who have struggle to buy a flat and keep the surrounding area nice for the residents of that area, SHAME ON YOU ALL!!!! oh and by the way the last little kiddy I told to piss off, him and his pals were all 15 plus and told me they would come back and rape me!!!! not so funny now is it.

I agree that being threathened by 15+ teenagers (presumably male) who threaten you with rape is more than unpleasant and thoroughly out of order. I do hope you reported the incident.  Young kids to play safely on lovely smooth new tarmac is one thing and should be encouraged, as long as they are behaving themselves, but intimidating teenagers is a whole different ball game and, I agree, not funny.

Part of the fun and excitement of being a kid is having a scary, preferably mad, neighbour who screams and shouts if you tread on her lawn/kick a ball into his garden/laugh and shout outside their house (delete as appropriate).  Well done for fulfilling that role.  I can still remember the scary old man in my street when I played out as a child, back in the olden days.

Seriously - you should report the threat of rape to the police.Kids need to obey the law like anyone else.But otherwise having kids playing in the streets is surely a good thing?
