Amazing turn-out at the Oaks this morning
I'm not good at guessing numbers but the estimate was around 300 people with banners, children, dogs, walking sticks, placards, bikes. All sorts. We think we made an impression on councillors (though Kate Crawford was very anti the one bit of chanting that broke out - well, that's a lot of people to stand around silently)David Brammer made an impassioned plea about locals' concerns. Next is the meeting itself on Wednesday at Ealing Town Hall at 1900. Councillor Gulaid (who is supposed to be on the committee but, for some reason, has not been placed on it for this crucial decision)says that, if large numbers turn up, the meeting might move to the main hall or let people in downstairs. I have no idea if he is right.
