Queens park - Wow

20 years of London living and never been to Queens Park . Lunch there today and Wow what a lovely little area ... Loads of great restaurants and shops . Forget Chiswick this is the re generation high street Acton needs . The days of butcher baker etc are over and this model of restaurants and supporting shops draws the business ... Just what Acton needs .... Along with Waitrose ( although not in present guise )

Does it really matter ?On a wet Sunday there was a  buzz .Families with young kids , grandparents  , gay couples  , groups of friends all  walking round . There was a Farmers Market in some school playground . Life !! Walk round Acton on a Sunday and tell me if you can find similar ... I doubt it  As I said the high street is dying so restaurants , foodie places are the support shops and they bring others to the area .... Some nice clothes shops in Queens Park

Well presumably it does or you wouldn't mention it!!  I was simply curious what the types of supporting shops were that worked so well,  but it seems it was not restaurants and supporting shops but just restaurants.  It seems around here hairdressers are the supporting establishments to the restaurants,  on Churchfield Rd anyway.  The High Street a different matter betting shops and estate agents!

Six years ago, when we were planning on moving to West London, Queens Park was an area we stumbled upon and I immediately fell in love with.  Too late, though:  even then, Estate Agents merely scoffed when we told them what we wanted to spend, and the only houses we got shown were pokey, grotty ones closer to Kilburn.  While I regret that it wasn't possible, I've been seeing signs that Churchfield Road could, with the right encouragement, be the next Salusbury Road.  You never know.

I've been trying not to bite but...Peter, if you spent more time and effort supporting and recommending the many brilliant business in Acton and less time whinging that it isn't as good as x, y & z you might be able to help it become this Chiswickian nirvana you dream of.By refusing, for example, to buy organic veg because the stall's up the wrong end of Churchfield road you are not just doing nothing to help improve Acton, but actively making life harder for new ventures.

I am almost convinced that this Peter Truesdale doesn't really exist. The messages come from a joker who likes to get people to rise if the forum is getting dull. Very funny I m sure. We haven't heard from Colin in a while. Perhaps it is him in disguise?

Maire I think you might be right...a troll,  especially given his ridiculous comments on the Hadrian Restaurant thread!
