Where do you think they'll tend to shop? Morrisons, Iceland and 99p store, and Acton High Street. There's no 99p store on the Chiswick High Road, because lower income families tend not to shop there.There are no units on Acton High Street as large as 99p store and Iceland and Poudstretcher. Where else would their lower income customers go to shop? There used to be a Netto in the Oaks, Morrisons used to be Safeway. It was cut price, own brand, bargain super market. Even they couldn't survive in the Oaks.I live near Churchfield Road. I'm sure it reflects the direction we'd like the Oaks to go in, but many in Acton simply don't have the incomes to spend in the type of shops desired there. Regardless of what the new Oaks becomes, it'll still be on the grubby end of Churchfield Road, any supermarket will have to compete with Morrisons, who probably have more square footage than all the Oaks units combined, plus acres of car park space. The shops that'll survive in the Oaks will be ones able to compete with those in the High Street.
