The Oaks, Boris isn't the only option

When involved in contentious planning applications most developers are wary of the period (3 months)for judicial review. Still an option given rubbish decision-making process- and JR all about process. But appellants win a really small proportion an it is an expensive and time consuming option. We may get that cross though...

It will not be the first time that the council has been taken to court here in Ealing. Few years back the then Hanwell Community Centre took the then Labour council to court because it wanted to sell the community centre to a developer who planned to turn into flats.  the Save the Warren farm group who are angry at the council decision to lease the land for a period of two hundred years to a football club in order to turn into their training ground, are raising funds for a JR, and I believe they may be ready to start legal proceedings. If the Acton residents get their act together and raise enough funds, especially if amongs them there are layers willing to help them, then why not doing so?

Judicial review is expensive. We may be able to convince the Mayor that the Council decision made last week was improper. Please send your prayers, positive thoughts, crossed fingers to those residents making the case to him.

And a coalition of local residents groups went to court to institute a judicial review over their development plans for Dickens Yard in central Ealing. Plans very similar in many ways to those for the Oaks in fact (although it was a Conservative council in this case). Sadly the JR was turned down though. The success rate for these things is not very high.

Hi Sophie - thanks for your offer. there is a group mtg with the Mayor, but on public forums we are reluctant to reveal too much of what is happening as the developers/council can read these threads too. You could write to waitrose too - the MDs email is on here somewhere. Plus there is a waitrose Facebook page thread with an ill- advised pic of the first store in 1906. That's a good place to comment too.
