HELP WITH COMPUTER

I desperately need to restore my Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 which I may have inadvertently deleted. It's gone anyway. All that's left is a shortcut.I have download a restore files program. It seems jolly nice but the problem is that I would not know what the files are, or are called, to restore them. Can anybody help please?

Use the built in system restore to reset your pc to a time before you had the problem with Outlook. You'll find system restore in Accessories-System Tools and there will normally be a choice of dates to restore to. I'm assuming you use a version of windows.

Tried that. Didn't work. Any other ideas?It's a bit serious for me as Office Word and Office Professional have conked out. They are rather important and I can't even write a document now.

You will need the original installer with serial number.No other option (other than buying the latest version) is legal.

As James says reinstall is the simplest solution as long as you have the product key. If necessary you can download Office 2007 from Microsoft www.microsoft.com/office/downloads/ (you need the product key).Once installed all your emails should still be there unless you deleted your .pst file. Some more info here 'www.msoutlook.info' regarding backing up, where to find your pst file etc.

There do not appear to be any emails or documents on the computer, it appears that it is used to access a recently altered remote business account that is not even accessible from the business itself. The office professional package was removed together with the virus, and connection details will be needed to restore it.

Instead of Microsoft Office, install OpenOffice instead.  Free to download off the internet, regular updates available, full office-like package including word processor, spreadsheet, etc.  Works very similar to Microsoft Office, a few differences in the toolbars.

Developers were upset about slow development of OpenOffice so they took the latest version of OpenOffice, changed the name to LibreOffice, and carried on from there. There is a copy on the Knoppix DVD which should just work from the DVD without any changes to your hard disc.

OpenOffice is available for almost all processor and system architectures both on and offline (no difference), although recent developments have been released under the name LibreOffice. If you would like to try it I can give you a copy of the bootable Knoppix DVD (or CD if you only have a CD drive) which will run on a standard Intel or AMD PC or a recent Apple. You can also download Knoppix from the University of Kent website mirrorservice.org
