Roundabout in front of the Police station

Does anyone know why they are taking so long to complete the roundabout on the high street in front of Acton Police Station?

It is way over schedule. At the time I couldn't see how it would take them until November to complete work but here we are in December. There should be a daily penalty clause

I think when they started it, the end date should have been 7th December.  Maybe there'll be a huge frenzy of activity in the next couple of days….I did see three people with clipboards standing in the middle and pointing in random directions a couple of days ago.

I reckon the builders can't get to the roundabout now that all that traffic flows so freely and quickly around it!!  LOL!Either that, or they're waiting for Christmas......double bubble!  ;-)

Can anyone remember if there is going to be any crossings for pedestrians over the Uxbridge Road west of Morrisons? There is nowhere safe to cross now between Morrisons and the crossing near North China restaurant.

There is no crossing until the other side of Gunnersbury lane on the map I have.And why on earth are they going to stop traffic turning left from Gunnersbury lane into Uxbridge road. Making that traffic loop around the roundabout will increase the traffic flow at the roundabout when the whole plane was to speed up that junction in the first place.

That is what I thought. It is great when I am in my car but I spend more time as a pedestrian and it is a long stretch with no safe crossing. Most traffic turns right at the Gunnersbury Lane/Uxbridge Rd junction which is what makes it possible to cross as a pedestrian. There is no safe pedestrian crossing there at the moment. You are right it will increase traffic at the roundabout or encourage the traffic to cut through narrow local streets.

Crossing  the road at the red lion and pineapple junction in any direction is taking your life in your hand as I seem to remember there is no pedestrian sequence on the lights, unless this has changed recently.

The plan is to put a crossing across the Uxbridge Road to the Red Lion, a part of which is abolishing the left turn from Gunnersbury lane to go west up the Uxbridge road (this is so that traffic can keep moving on Gunnersbury Lane when the crossing is in use). They seem to have started work on this as the old traffic lights have been removed.

So how will left-turning traffic get onto the Uxbridge Road? Filtered along the residential back streets? they are going to love that!

Nope, apparently they are expected to turn right and go around the roundabout to then continue back up the uxbridge rd. One of the side rds in question (hillcrest/willcott) is already no entry from gunnersbury lane and Denehurst Gardens is to be closed too to stop a rat run and force traffic around the roundabout. I cannot see how it's going to work, it's so bottom about face it's unbelievable.

Not according to the geniuses at Ealing Council with whom i have debate this at length, being on one of the potential rat run side roads. But hey what do i know i've only loved here 8 years. I'll happily eat my words if it works and i hope it does but i just cant see it.

You have to remember that these roads are controlled by TFL, so it is their scheme and based on their traffic management predictions. Ealing Council is involved as the implementers and people who do the consultations on behalf of TFL but do not, in the end, decide what is done. This work all stems from a Boris complaint about the number of traffic lights in Ealing. Let's hope they have got it right!

Traffic along Horn Lane going towards Acton High Street seems to be much worse now since the new roundabout was installed.The pedestrian crossing is too close to the roundabout causing a traffic build up in each direction. Several people have mentioned this recently to me.Pedestrians are STILL trying to cross Horn Lane where the crossing used to be outside Morrisons, which is also slowing down the traffic flow and is extremely dangerous for motorists and pedestrians alike.

I would like to know the logic of putting crossings so close to roundabouts.I noticed it also at the mini roundabouts in Gunnersbury lane and Horn Lane/Noel Road.

Simply no logic at all just coming up to buget season so Ealing council spends to justify its existence and funding let get rid of the parasites
