Mayor's Oaks Decision - any news?

I thought today is the deadline for a decision to be made on Oaks redevelopment?

The key word is "acceptable". Thats as good as they can describe the heinous ARC proposals. Hidden in Boris' verdict is the clear fear that if they overturn it they will be liable to further legal costs that they don't fear they can risk. So they've bottled it basically. If only we were the well heeled residents of Hammersmith who appear to get their voices heard a bit easier. So the fight goes onto Secretary of State and Legal challenges. And the side issue of getting every labour councillor, who stood by and let their Southall drone colleagues drop a bomb on the heart of Acton, voted out at the first available opportunity.

I didn't think it hidden in the verdict at all - palpably clear that the fear of costly appeal was the driving force. behind this craven decision.

To be clear Boris  has now thrown back the final decision to Ealing council who  previously agreed the proposal ? Is there any re-dress / appeal or what are the chances of overruling the views of the council ? What is the timing of their final decision ?

Only route now is the Secretary of State - one Eric Pickles. And he hardly ever (even less often than Boris) makes a decision against a proposed development.Or Judicial Review which is expensive and seldom successful.Umm... I think that's it. The big guys win again.

You do all know that Boris doesn't actually do these things himself, he gets Sir Eddie Lister, former leader of Wandsworth Council, to do it for him.If you look at the monstrous skyline of Wandsworth, you'll see the obvious implications of having someone like that in charge of handing London's democracy over to the developers.  I believe the phrase is 'regulatory capture'.

Yes - the Oaks Action group met Edward Lister with Angie Bray.But the power resides with the Mayor and the decision came with his signature.

"But the power resides with the Mayor and the decision came with his signature."With luck this will be a salutary lesson to people who seem to believe he's anything but a disaster as Mayor.  This is a curiously widespread belief in defiance of the facts.

I expected nothing less of Boris and am surprised at anyone who believed there was even  a hope in him coming to the rescue.
