A&E's that will see children.

Thought I might have to take my youngest and her horrific cough to A&E last night, then realised I had no idea which one would see a child. I remember several years ago being turned away from Hammersmith when my now 26 year old had a bad asthma attack. So does anyone know which ones I could take her to, should the need arise/antibiotics not do the trick?Thanks

The West Middlesex in Isleworth has an excellent A&E and they certainly take children.

We had the same issue a month ago. It was after 8pm and a friend of ours told us the Hammersmith hospital doesn't have pediatricians after a certain time in the evening. So we went to St Mary's hospital in Paddington. St Mary's has a pediatric A&E only for children so the environment is much nicer with a play area etc. However, because it is the only pediatric A&E in the area, it is EXTREMELY busy. With a 1-year-old we had to wait 4 hours to be seen by the doctor. The wait was awful. I have to say though, a nurse will assess the child soon after you arrive (maybe after 10-15 mins), but if they think you are not an urgent case, the wait will be very bad I am afraid. I didn't know that there was the Charing Cross option and in case need arise, might try that next time.

Thanks everyone. Just been to see GP and no chest infection. So that's a relief. Dozed her up with honey&lemon and some steam in a bowl. Fingers crossed.
