Thanks Kim and Sarah.I've been meaning to take that shot for months but never quite got round to it.Churchfield Road just happens to be in straight alignment with the BT tower.A wonderful clear night, BT tower clearly visible, (6 miles away)  Christmas lights twinkling along Churchfield Road.  Perfect.

Great photo. I looked the other way and was surprised to see the 2 tower blocks lit in blue neon. Is this new?

David, they did the 'blue neon' in the last couple of weeks. I hope they keep them looking that way. Acton really does look stunning . . . . after the sun goes down.I still haven't worked out if it's blue lighting, or if it's blue translucent stuff on the windows. Apparently, the guys from Blue live there.  ( All rise, High rise )

Hi Sandra.The tower pic was taken at around 4.30 pm. My main intention at the time, was to capture a pic of the sunset. It was that day when London was covered in a blanket of fog.

Boom Boom. Nice one Fred. Actually Duncan and Lee from Blue do live in Acton. They are regulars in the restraurant and we do home deliveries too but they're not in the highrise.

I think the blue light in the tower blocks might be an attempt to discourage users of drugs you have to inject from using the communal areas. In the blue light, you cannot see the veins and hence cannot inject yourself. I know a lot of places in London where they use this kind of light in the toilet areas.

I wondered the exact same thing.. Is it Christmas lighting or to eliminate drug use?  Would be interested to know. I'm hoping it's festive!

That was my son's theory too. I am sure the council would not put 'festive lights' in the tower blocks!  The ladies toilets in Morrison's used to have blue lights in them, don't know if they still do!

Ok. I have it on authority of the police. The lights were installed to stop people injecting Heroin in the stairwell areas. It has worked and it's no longer happens in those blocks.Luckily I looks quite cool I think. Like the Acton lit up sign on the bridge!
