Night shelters in Acton

Rather late in the day to be telling you but some of you might want to know that the rota for night shelters has moved to St. Mary's opposite Morrisons this evening. Rev. Bramner says that they are still short of volunteers for the night shift. ie. 10.00 pm to 2.30 am or 2.30 am to 6.30 am. I am going along myself this evening at 6.00 pm until 8.00 pm so that I can understand what has to be done, complete the local forms (different from the Ealing wide forms I have already completed) and put my name down for a couple of shifts. At least one other newcomer to St. Mary's will be with me. I know some of you were interested before Christmas and may already have done your stint at venues tothe west of Acton. However the nights remains bitter and the need for shelter remains great. If you want to come along this evening, please do. I'd value your company. Otherwise, St. Mary's is on the rota for the next six weeks. I will post further contact information tomorrow.

Ok, so the night shelter will be at St. Mary's every Sunday night during January. We could do with some more toiletries, socks,and male underwear. If you have any of the above to spare, pm me to drop them off. Thanks in advance.

How many people do you get?Our synagogue is doing Saturday nights this winter - in Westminster where there is a similar rota. And, for what its worth, our asylum seekers drop-in centre swears by Morrisons savers range when it comes to providing toiletries.. (convenient for us!)Will find some socks

Thanks in advance for the socks and the advice about toileteries. if anyone has any good boots size 43,44,45 or 46 I could find a home. The guests will be at St. Mary's Acton every Sunday night for six weeks.There are 14 spaces on the Ealing Rota. The project has a good record in finding people a place to live during the project and there is a waiting list. The rota will move to St. Dunstans in East Acton in mid February. Not sure which night.

Who would have thought Morrisons stocking inadequacies would affect the night shelter? At this time of year you can get ladies' socks, boys' and girls' socks but presumably men are assumed only to change and update them in the run up to Xmas - not in stock! ( alongside - irritatingly but irrelevantly - wash'n'go, dove shampoo, arnica, zinc, small bottles of Morrisons sparkling water, passion fruit etc etc)
