Refuse collection still delayed this week

We've all put our rubbish and recycling out - but the pick up is still disrupted and won't be happening till Friday this week - for a Thursday schedule.Back to normal next week!

It seems such a long time ago doesn't it!The Council has had good info up though right on the front of its website and a big bit on recycling in Around Ealing with the collection days in a bright red Christmassy back page.You seem to have missed the plastic recycled bottle Christmas tree which caused quite a big debate on Ealing Today over here!Here's the online Around Ealing:http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/07f4e029#/07f4e029/16

It sure does - well into new year resolutions and abstentions. And yes it was on the website - but it never occurred to me to look into this week.Plus they obviously haven't moved the street sweepers who were merrily plying their trade this morning - a day BEFORE the collections...

And one thing not shown on the website was that the garden waste collection has ceased until the end of January: the 'when is my waste collected' feature shows it as continuing throughout, which doesn't help when no one has told you it has been suspended....

And not everyone has access to a computer or gets the Around Ealing! We didn't get a December issue.My elderly neighbour was unaware of the changes for this week, and we only found out by looking at the website. In the past things have usually gone back to normal the week after New Year.

Lorna, you should point that out to them if you are paying for a garden waste collection.  You wouldn't think to look elsewhere for that info, would you?It does say re the garden waste I notice in the Around Ealing - the last one of which had a lot about Recycling presumably because we make so much more waste at Christmas and New Year and there is the hope - they can't do much more - that we might learn something new from it.Actually there IS a list of where all the new waste electrical banks are on there.  At last!  Although if something is working first port of call should be reuse eg the British Heart Foundation.  LBH residents have been able to put out WEEE for several years now with their green box.I've put the reference for it on here but you can always look for them by going to A in the A-Z.  There are a lot of back issues there as well.http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/07f4e029#/07f4e029/16

I thought garden waste collection ended in October and picked up again in about March - that's how it was when it started anyhow.

Sara, the break in collections is much shorter now -  I can remember it stopping for just a few weeks last winter - but they just didn't bother to tell us when (although a friend elsewhere in Acton did receive a bit of paper). I don't mind having to check, but it would be preferable if the only available information on the website was correct...

Hmmm, only 'thing' that came round our road today was a recycling vehicle looking out for Christmas trees passing quickly. As I don't buy a tree, I had my substantial (mounting uo to a tree) and highly visible fir 'bits and bobs' nicely lined up in a bundle on the path by the gate. Did they get taken? Of course not - they were not a tree after all... Stirling Road it is - can't even be bothered to make a complaint...

Perhaps you should have put a label on it "Please recycle my Christmas 'tree'" or "Christmas Tree"!

That calendar should either be on the website so that you can download it or be clearly referred to so that you can ask for it.I had another look for the info that Lorna is referring to.  If I was a subscriber I would expect to see it mentioned there.  The changes to collection days are there but not the page I have seen elsewhere with the details of Christmas tree collections which mentions - just mentions and doesn't highlight - that there will be no ordinary garden waste collection. http://www.ealing.gov.uk/news/article/862/christmas_tree_recyclingOrdinary garden waste collection resumes on 20 January.

Collection was due today  and generally the first pass is before 0800. Nothing yet. I wonder.

I think they must have rearranged the collection rounds; our rubbish used to go before 8am and the recycling before 10. The last couple of weeks the recycling hasn't gone until late morning and the black bags were there until teatime...And Bob, thank you for the calendar. Haven't seen one of those for a couple of years! (and we pay for this...)
