Pub by Acton Park

What happened to the pub by Acton Pub? It was always there now it sees boarded up and selling furniture!

Surprised The King's Arms stayed open as long as it did. There was only ever a handful of people sitting at the bar every time I walked past it. Shame though as it was a good pub up until around ten years ago.

Supposedly 26 pubs close each week. Presumably this will slow down at some stage before we are left with none at all.Britain always seemed to be heavily over-served with pubs, with one practically on every street corner. Given that it's much cheaper to drink at home, I slightly wonder who still goes to pubs, other, of course, than in soap operas.

Most of the people who went there were students at the music school (Tech Music Schools) down the road.They moved to Fulham last year so IMHO it was always a matter of time.

This is a prime housing development site.  Overlooking the park and on the 207 bus route to Shepherds Bush.No doubt a planning application will follow shortly.

Was it really a good pub?? I have never been in there, although its the closest to where I live, as I was under the impression the far right met in there....

I lived on Bromyard Ave from 1978 until 1983 and then back at the same flat 1986-1991 and used that pub from time to time. It was always a bit rough but ok. They used to have some good bands in there and Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd used to play in there in a band called Graham and the Dolphins from time to time. I don't know anything about it being a far right pub then and I haven't used it since.
