The ATOS assessment is a device to undermine individuals with a disability or longterm illness.By stating that the individual is 'fit for work', it implies the individual stated that they weren't.Many sick or disabled people would love to work, but are at a disadvantge when competing for employment against those who aren't.I'm in possession of evidence with regards to one of these 'assessments'. A practising Ealing GP lied and fabricated the results of the ATOS assessment. An appeal was taken to tribunal on that basis and the incompetance of the GP. The appeal was allowed. Having an assessment regarding your health fabricated by an incompetant GP, then having to survive on zero income while taking the appeal to tribunal, on top of having to live the effect of your existing disability, plus the side-effects antidepressents, newly prescribed as a result of having to endure the whole sham, is more likely result in suicide than employment.Google > ATOS suicide < to discover how ATOS assessments help to reduce the number of people on disability benefit.The real issue is not whether the person being assesed is 'fit for work', the issue is whether the person's condition or disability puts them at a disadvantge when competing for employment against those who aren't.Job application forms often ask about the applicant's health background, and whether it would affect their ability to do the job. Forms returned stating a health condition are hardly likely to find their way to the top of the pile.While on a disability benefit, there's more effort put into checking that you haven't found employment, than there is help and advice for a route back into work.
