Acton high street wholly impassible

No warning or anything of course but horn lane southbound blocked at the roundabout and high street westbound barely moving so you can't get down from Churchfield road either.So frustrating!

So why is there no advance warning of these closures? I've asked Bassam Mafouz (cabinet member for the environment who also looks after the waste contract)to tell us what is happening so we can plan any travelling we intend.

They appear to be re-surfacing (again?) the roundabout. No signage for drivers coming down Hirn Lane to take Churchfield Road as a detour to the high street, so a lot of drivers who are the surprised by the closure of the roundabout and no choice but to do a u-turn, which adds to the chaos.

And the additional traffic which has had to go via Churchfield Road, with huge jams trying to get south onto the High Street, is just a taster of the chaos that is to come once the Oaks develoment has been built.

266 bus on St Dunstans avenue. Tried to divert from Horn Lane only to find himself trapped. I had to redirect to the A40 and back down to old oak lane so he could get back onto the uxbridge road.

We saw the 266 going along Twyford Ave later in the afternoon.

What I don't understand is why this is OK to do to Acton's residents and businesses with no warning, consultation or alternatives in place. My husband drove down the same stretch at about 0830 this morning - nothing going on and nothing to say there would be.He would like to know who is in charge and responsible. I could give him no information. Is anyone?

As previously discussed, this is a Council led project, which will ave been outsourced to a construction company. It is for the Council to specify what communication with residents there will be. I tweeted Bassam Mafouz and Julian Bell this morning but as yet haven't had a reply. I don't know if it is worth asking the current Councillors to ask some questions themselves.

This scheme is a TFL project, who have responsibility for the roads involved.

Thanks for that Pete. Ealing Council didn't give permission then and require them to be considerate to residents? I am very surprised. There is not a single sign anywhere and the cycle lane is downright dangerous.

This is just another example of the local council failing to take responsibility or communicate with residents.  It is virtually impossible to get through to the relevant person on the phone and we are paying for these people who think that they are above talking the people they are paid to serve!

TFL can do what they want and just have to consult with the council, which is not an easy process.There is a sign on the Uxbridge road going East to announce the road closure on Sunday. I can't see what else they can do other than put up warning road signs.

Just to be clear. This is a TfL funded project but managed by the Council. I have no idea why Pete thinks they have no responsibility
