Poors of Acton

So sad I went there today to buy some plants and the lovely lady who looks after them told me that the new owners have decided to make the place just a timber yard. So she is retiring and all the Odds and Sods that you could get there will be no more.

The new business that is taking over the site want to cash in on the loft conversion. So it sound like a mostly trade outlet, a bit like Castles

I shall miss it.  I got a few plants there last week.  They stocked such a wonderful mix of different things.

What a sad sight and site! No plants left really, just sad plantwoman packing up. It will be renamed at the end of the month an may not be open to the public anyhow - not that there is much left you'd want to buy.End of an era!

That is indeed very sad. Poore's has been in Acton for nearly 200 years! I am not sure the move to Colville Road helped the business, but it was still a useful 'port of call' for those little odds and ends!RIP Poores!
