Verdict on Acton's new road layouts

So it seems after months of road chaos in Acton, they've finally finished all the changes. So what does everyone think? Have the new roundabouts speeded up traffic it made it worse. Have the no right turns made side roads into rat runs? Thumbs up or down?

Thumbs down.Could someone with knowledge of the most organised disorganised chaos, please explain the advantage of the no left turn from Gunnersbury towards Ealing.  What's the point of having to go around the roundabout, just to go to back on ones self?David.Have you considered doing kerbside takeaway for the passing traffic jams?

Usually the area is not on my route but the other day I had to fill up on Horm Lane and drove down to find it backing up as far as Highlands avenue. This was Early afternoon so not a busy time. I U-turned and changed my route.As a rule I avoid the area by turning right at the Acton Town roundabout and heading for Bollo Bridge, then Acton lane to get to Acton Central.Thumbs down from me.

The main problem seems to be the narrowing of the road from the big roundabout up Acton Hill into one lane instead of the previous two, which is causing traffic to block the roundabout and serves no conceivable purpose.Ditto the no left turn out of Gunnersbury Lane, as previously mentioned. Pointless, pointless, pointless!!!

Thumbs down from me too! I do not think the traffic flows any better, and the removal of pedestrian crossings makes crossing High Street a nightmare. When I came home from Hammersmith on a 266 on Friday at around 2.30, it took so long getting from Old Town Hall bus stop to Creswick Road, I wish I had got off and walked! The bus driver radioed control and told them that the traffic was bad along there.

Haven't driven around enough recently to make an informed comment but noted that the 'no left turn' at Red Lion/Gunnersbury is to allow a controlled pedestrian crossing.

Thumbs down from the pedestrian point of view.  If you want to shop on both sides of the High Street you either have to walk a long way or take your life in your hands - so will probably affect trade in the shops as well.  I crossed at the former crossing at the High St junction with Market Place/Crown St yesterday - I managed to find a reasonable gap in the traffic eventually but left a heavily pregnant lady still standing waiting.  My son has a longer walk home when he gets off the bus from school as well. And it hasn't even improved the traffic flow.  What was the point?

I drive back home past the new roundabout at the junction of Uxbridge Road/Church Road. Pedestrians are currently endangered.

Dreadful for pedestrians - nowhere to cross - will have to start planning my route so that I can use what seems to be the only available crossing.  Or maybe, simpler option, don't use the High Street at all.  Perhaps that's what the planners wanted us to do!

Coming back from Ealing common, travelling Eastbound, sailed through without any trouble, from Uxbridge road to Steyne Road.It was 1:30 pm.

"you have them and Boris to thank for the roundabouts and opposing them is "anti-car dogma""Quite correct, although obviously Labour is free to implement its own more sensible policy, but hasn't.  Ealing's obsession with removing traffic signals and putting roundabouts in to speed up traffic is a legacy from about 2008 and Phil's rather given the game away there by explicitly supporting pointless attempts to speed up traffic at the expense of pedestrians.

I have driven through Acton at different times of day since they have finished the Road works and the only moan I have is the narrowing of the road outside the shops across from the Aeronaut causing the traffic to converge around the roundabout and the cars coming off Steyne road don't seem to comprehend that you should only enter a roundabout if your exit is clear the same as a yellow box junction, these inconsiderate drivers block the traffic coming from the town hall and wanting to go either along the Uxbridge road towards Ealing common or up Steyne road towards the A40,but otherwise I have no complaints as I think the traffic has started flowing better, I even think the no left turn  and right turn outside the red lion and pineapple is better, I don't think it is pointless at all, as the traffic doesn't sit on the Uxbridge road waiting to get around the corner anymore. Thumbs up for me.

Unfortunately for residents who live off Horn Lane driving to Acton High Street is now a nightmare which is to be avoided if possible! It was never this bad before, now most days parts of Horn Lane are at a standstill.

"Don't worry Thomas, CHR is next"Doesn't bother me, I usually walk and cycle, and anyway Hounslow's transport department hasn't got the Ealing Roundabout Disease.  Do people up Acton way really drive from Horn Lane to Uxbridge Road and complain about the traffic without realising they are the traffic?

I don't really understand the comments about not being able to cross the high street and the shops suffering.  All the same crossings are present on the main shopping area,  outside Morrisons/Crown Street the pedestrian crossing still there,  outside Costa/the Church pedestrian crossing still there,  near Pinto/Grove Road pedestrian crossing still there.  So how is it difficult to cross Uxbridge Road?The main roundabout at Morrisons is bad during rush hour as cars and particularly buses just pull out even if the way is not clear so stationary traffic blocks the roundabout.  At other times it is ok and hopefully once the plants take it may look better than before.Not sure how the no left turn from Gunnersbury Lane onto Uxbridge road is a benefit,  I don't go that way but seems silly.

The crossing at Market Place/Church St which I nearly always use because I come onto the High St by Woody Grill.  The crossings at the bottom of Steyne Road - which I used to use four times a day taking my child to school.

Thumbs down. Very heavy traffic on Horn Lane. Traffic lights near Market Place are very necessary.
