George and Dragon closed for refurbishment

Noticed this morning that the George and Dragon has closed for refurbishment. Hopefully will reopen with the micro brewery. Wonder what happened to George the cat?

Another week or so, apparently........ George moved to Bristol with the old owners. I am hoping for not too much of a drastic refurbishment as it was lovely before. They have moved the bar to the back room which is a bit weird.

So where will the micro- brewery be? There was already a bar in the back wasn't there?

Yep, and yes there was a bar there too but this has been removed for the brewing tanks. The bar will be in the centre of the room.

I went in the George & Dragon / Dragonfly Brewery earlier today to see what it was like and it was fabulous.  They have 4 beers I think - a stout, a bitter, an IPA and a wheat beer.  Looks like they do burgers and bar snacks too.  There's no front bar now, just the new one at the back, with the brewery in full view.  The beer was excellent so I can imagine it doing well.

The CCA are having their first Wednesday drinks there next Wednesday. A good opportunity to see for yourself.

Has it opened already? I had a leaflet for a Grand Reopening on 15 May 14? Will pop in this weekend if it has.

Twitter told me - as did leaflets on cars - that it opene last Thursday- free beer - and I forgot to go!
