Bid Shopping (Sit up TV) in administration

The Acton based company which owns the shopping channels Bid TV and Price Drop went into administration earlier this afternoon. The channels have gone off air replaced by 'technical fault' messages.I don't know how many of their employees live locally but sad to hear of a company with a base in the area going out of business.

Were they Bid Up originally? I went to see their call centre operation eons ago and it looked such a miserable way to earn a living. They were quite oppressed.Just south of the Vale weren't they?I wonder what went wrong.

Yes the channels were originally Bid Up and Price Drop (the company Sit Up also owned some other channels which went defunct a while back). They used to have the office on the corner of The Vale that used to belong to cable company Videotron which then became Cable & Wireless, then NTL and then Virgin Media. More recently it's become a William Hill. The studios were just down from this office on Warple Way, but more recently it looks like they moved to the Acton Park estate on Eastman Road.
