missed    rubbish / gaden  waste / green boxs

what  is going  on  with  the rubbish  collection  last week  and  this week  they  are  not  picking  up  at all its  terrible please  south  acton  councillors   get  a grip  on  this and  dont  be  going  on  the  front  page  saying  how  good  things  are  in  acton  just get  the BASIC RUBBISH  COLLECTED  STREETS  CLEAN AFTER   you  think  we lived  in  3RD  WORLD and  i  have  repoted this  morning  to  council aghhhhhhh

We had no street sweeping last week at all - presumably because the collection was a day late so the ghastly contractor just axed it. And the rubbish/recyclers made a hell of a mess too - including bags left around, broken glass...And it would be the weekend of the street party.So we had the joy of the neighbours sweeping the street and taking bags to the dump as others put up the bunting. Which is good for us and collegiate. But shouldn't be necessary as well as paying council tax.I emaied streetwatchers on Friday - but nothing happened.

All, does my rubbish bag have to be black? Odd question perhaps but all my other bags were collected yesterday except a large white plastic Primark bag that was clearly with the others.I completed the online form but it said " black bin bag" in the section.Thanks, Carl

Traditionally unrecyclable waste goes into a black plastic sack.  This is because the ones that used to be provided by Councils were black.Councils use coloured sacks for different types of collection.  For instance Ealing uses see-through ones for flats' recycling.  Hounslow has see-through ones for flats' recycling and purple ones for flats' residual waste.  People move boroughs and often seem to bring different coloured sacks with them.Commercial collection companies use different coloured sacks  too including at least one well known one which uses a white sack.  Admittedly these commercial companies also have writing on their bags.  They often collect these very early or at dusk when they need to be able to spot their bags on the street.Enterprise need to be able to recognise and pick up the correct waste for the particular truck as quickly as possible.  I know that there are people who when missing their plastics collection bag put their plastics out in a white bag.  It is very hit and miss whether this goes in the right collection.There are known to take them for general waste sometimes.  I suspect it can depend on which way the wind is blowing.
