"It's a shame TfL doesn't seem to think Acton worthy of hybrids - neither the 7 nor 94 are getting new Routemasters"Actually the 94 already has hybrids and the 7 is getting hybrids delivered right about now for conversion later in the year. The reason those two routes can't be New Routemasters is that the great fat things are too long for the stands. 'Built for London', as the spin goes (NRMs are 11.3m, way longer than normal London double deckers which are around 10.2 to 10.6m).The new 7s will also be more economical and have lower emissions than the NRM, partly due to being around a tonne lighter, and I suspect the air cooling will work in summer.Basically not every hybrid in London is a New Roastmaster, in fact most aren't. They're something of a false step, clouded by a huge amount of spin and nonsense that unfortunately continues to con people (they're not air conditioned, for one thing).
