A TO  LET advertising board from Ludlowthompson has been mistakenly erected outside our houseThis should have been at the next door house where our charming neighbours are trying to let a flat Despite several call to the agent, this still haven’t been moved I had 2 couple of people knocking at my door and this is now annoying This prove once again how incompetent they are and only care about themselves

Three cheers for Persian Nights on the Uxbridge Road

My goodness lunch was a long time ago. Actually by the time we got back from seeing "Our House" in HMP ISIS near Woolwich Arsenal, it was a good ten hours ago. But what would be open in Acton at 1020 on a Sunday night?Then I thought of Persian Nights which is a jolly place on the Uxbridge Road beyond the petrol station/24 hour Tesco (which would be the last resort for something to buy and have it home, if this failed)We staggered into the restaurant looking faint with hunger and they fed us hummus with freshly baked-on-the-Iranian-oven bread, followed by chicken kebab and the freshest salad.And they were wholly charming about it too - though that may be down to Malcolm still being in his Arsenal shirt.So - somewhere that deserves lots of customers.

Skyscrapers in Park Royal

If we are going to have lots more tall buildings in London it is hard to think of a better place to put them than in Park Royal. It is still a predominantly industrial area and blighted by proximity to the North Circular and the A40. Even if the buildings are badly designed then it is probably a case of replacing ugly with less ugly.Over 700 new homes are to be welcomed as well.

Domestic Violence Workshop 

The initiative involves a half-day workshop in which all members of the community can have their say to ensure police are better able to respond to cases of domestic violence in Ealing.Welcome the event, but some have had to suffer on borough despite meetings with senior officers to educate about different forms of DV even at ECPCG senior officers claimed that CSU officers were trained in ALL forms. Fix My Street website/app

Hello everyoneCan I please encourage you all, if you're not already, to use the website https://www.fixmystreet.com/ and the accompanying app to report environmental issues to Ealing? I hate to say it, but I find myself on there weekly. I have targeted areas around our street which are 'hotspots' for fly-tipping, and whilst it's not completely stopped, it has slowed a little, and Ealing even erected a penalty sign on a popular spot recently. If Ealing is receiving lots and lots of fly-tipping reports, it might actually justify employing more environmental officers. Of course the pessimistic side of me thinks they might kill more off if they think we can do their job for them!Rubbish in Acton really depresses me - if we all banded together to help put a stop to it, we might just achieve good things.

A warning about using expandable foam....

Just seen this incident on the BBC Local live web page, "Man 'engulfed in ball of fire' in Acton flat blaze". HST2, Old Oak Common Interchange

See front page report which replicates gushing admiration from HMG and LBHF.... I am not sure this is a good use of 32bn esp. as Mr Cameron tells us we are broke.......However my main concern is the impact this major interchange will have on the surrounding area inc. Acton. A percentage of passengers from HST2 (and presumably HST1 once the link is complete)The Great Western line from the west and Crossrail will wish to switch to cars, taxis and buses at Old Oak to access West London. The station and its servicing/support will also create additional demand on local roads. LBHF wish to transform the area into a commercial/residential/shopping hub (no doubt with 30 storey blocks....) Extending Euston will be tricky given the compulsory purchases and rehousing/relocating that will be required. Any delays may mean Old Oak becomes the terminus for a period of time. I have used Eurostar and can see the advantages of HST. Just not sure of the benefits of shorter trips to Birmingham for the few able to pay for the privilege. If the extensions to Manchester, Leeds and Heathrow are built I can see a better case......Am I alone in my doubts??

Reporting Flytipping

I have struggled to report to Ealing Council that I have observed a van dumping kitchen cabinets and other waste in the lane behind our houses.The Ealing website will only offers a “Report-it” link. When I select the lane between the houses, it says “private land” & says go away. Does this mean that Ealing has no interest in recording where the flytipping is occurring or more importantly WHO is do it? So, the driver was free to drop it load elsewhere with immunity.I had seen this driver unloading for approx. 5 mins by the time I reached the lane and had photographed the front of the van. When confronted, he claimed to be looking for scrap metal in the previously flytipped rubbish. He admitted unloading some of the cabinets from his van (that was lightly loaded) and claimed to putting them back on.Afterwards, I rang Met Police on 101. The driver parked around the corner and returned. He spoke to the 101 operator to confirm his name & address which matched the vehicle registration. He claimed to have taken back on any cabinets that he had offloaded. The police operator said there was nothing they could do at that time although they did call back later to complete the crime report.Subsequent checks in the lane show kitchen cabinet components that matched the contents of his van and much more waste that was present on the previous evening. So, he was either second dumper in 14 hours or dumped a lot more. I had seen him unloading for nearly 5 minutes but he reloaded for 1 minute.Are Ealing Council interested? Are they able to follow up on this and prosecute and possibly link him to other cases of flytipping?

Changes to GP services

As many of you know I am a Healthwatch volunteer (anyone can be) and have been hearing about the introduction of new systems to our GP service. If anybody reading this have experienced the following, can you let me know? On line prescription request and/or renewalOn line appointments booking serviceAccess to your own summary care record (notes in old money)Text messaging to remain you of your appointmentA&E able to access your GP recordsRequest from your GP to visit surgery with proof of ID to formally agree the new system can access your records.All these changes and much more are being rolled out across the Borough and every GP practice except three have signed up to the new system. It will take time to reach everyone, but I am curious how far our GPS have got.
