No more planning notices in the Press

I've received notification from Mrs. Aileen Jones, Head of Planning at Ealing Council, that henceforth there will be no further notices of Planning applications or consultations in the local papers. If you like to keep up to date with Council and Developers plans for building in your area, then, sorry, you will have to find other ways.

Memorial service for Michael Torpey (the chap at Acton Central ticket office

Many of you will know that Michael died last month, aged 65 after a relatively short illness. He only went sick in November.There will be a memorial service on SATURDAY 28 MARCH at 1800 at the RC Parish of St Charles Borromeo, The Presbytery, 8 Ogle Street London W1W 6HSThe station staff asked me to let everyone know and would be really pleased to see lots of Acton Centralites there.

we  have a house thats forever  dumping  rubbish ie household and building i report it  they council pick it up      next  morning  the  same  must  be  costing  the  council a lot of monies  to keeping  coming  out

Sci-fi author talk for teenagers at Acton Library

On Wednesday 11th March 5-6pm, Philip Webb, writer of sci-fi novels for teenagers, will be giving a talk about where ideas come from and what it's like to be a writer. Ealing Hockey Club Mother's Day Fun Day - Sunday15th March

Friary Park consultation

Rosco White, late of this parish, has sent me his views on resisting the plans to rebuild the estate. I thought they deserved a wider audience.You will all be very aware that you need to come up with as many reasonable and valid Objections as possible to stop this potential creeping blight - Ealing Planning will accept nothing less.Well, consider.......................................The northern end of Horn Lane / the Horn Lane Industrial Estate, is one of the proven, worst air polluted areas in LondonThe prevailing winds are WesterlyTherefore, the air pollution filth blows virtually constantly on to The Friary Park Estate area.Presumably there will be far more elderly, infirm and children living in this proposed new development than there is now, all of whom will suffer hugely from the proven air pollution blowing directly and daily straight on to them.Diseasing of "little, undeveloped lungs"; worsening of, leading to possible death, from conditions such as emphysema, etc etc etc - you get the drift.IMHO this might be/IS one of the best arguments in your fight.Cheers,Rosco White.

Colour photocopying?

Hello all.  As many may know, the Friary Green Residents' Association is being formed and we are planning a community meeting/1st AGM for later in March.  We have flyers which we'd like to distribute and need them photocopied/printed.  We have zero dosh at the moment, of course.....does anyone know a cheap colour photocopying service or is anyone out there able to provide this service as a donation for the residents' association out of the goodness of their heart?!  We'll need around 300 copies, we think.Thanks.

The CrossRail effect & the changing look & feel of Acton Central

Should more people be alarmed at the rate of planning applications going in from property owners to convert their semis/homes into multiple flats and even applications to build 2 extra "dwelling units" in their garden?  This seems to be mainly in Acton Central.  CrossRail effect?  I am very concerned that these applications will change the look and feel of the area irrevocably.  We have refuse, fly-tipping and parking issues already in the area without cramming more flats and homes into our overcrowded streets already.  The refuse contractor doesn't seem to be able to cope with the existing amount of refuse, recycling and litterpicking without the increased density.  What with the proposal for Friary Park to be demolished and vastly increased in its housing capacity, these additional planning applications will change the look and feel of Acton Central for the worse (especially around the Friary Park area).

Premium Parking Permits

If Ealing Council genuinely was going to limit the number of premium parking permits they issued to 25 they why not auction them off rather than have a fixed supply? If they were sold to the 25 highest bidders far more money could be raised.Then again they would be contractually obliged not to issue any more.

pruning my apple tree

`I have emailed a couple of firms by e mail and voice mail messages etc, but no-one ever gets back to me. I need to prune my apple tree and trim another tall prickly thing I don't know the name of,Does anyone know a firm/person I can contact that would respond to this job?
