Acton Fair this Saturday - help needed

Lots of opportunities:1) a group of Oaks campaigners will be handing out leaflets and asking people to write to BORIS ASAP...would you like to take an hour or so of this?2) If you think your Oaks skills/knowledge or your brass neck is not up for this, how about an hour on the CCA stall helping with the tombola, bric-a-brac sales etc?3) Failing either (or alongside both, if you are a truly helpful soul) donations to the tombola always and ever so welcome. Oaks Development - 2 weeks for Boris to decide

So we have just had the confirmation from the Mayor's office that the council have finally submitted all of the relevant documentation so the clock is now ticking. It is yet another shabby tactic by the developers and council to hold off for 4 weeks on supplying the paperwork -  thus ensuring that the Mayor's decision will be announced on Dec 18th.. just before Xmas. So if you haven't written to Boris..now is the time to do it. You can find his address along with all the details on why 87% of local residents (according to the Ealing Gazette poll) want a better future for Acton at www.oaksaction.org.uk.

Overcharging again by Morrision's

What a pathetic supermarket Morrison's are.Bought two packs of foil trays @ £1.59 for pack of 4.  Total cost of 2x4 trays £12.72 an overcharge of £9.54  It's about time Morrisin's trained their staff to not overcharge, rip off the public and have a decent customer service.  IMO they don't give a toss.Bye Bye Morrison's.

Another scam warning

My 75 year old neighbour was approached as he was getting his shopping out of his car, he had been to Morrisons where a very kind young lady helped him pack his shopping at the till, outside his house 2 young men appraoched him with a map asking for directions to 21 Lady Road??? he noticed the map was for central London not Acton, one of them got really close to him and when he went indoors and checked his brest pocket for his card and receipt they were both gone, he called the police but within 45 minutes of him discovering his card was gone and stopping it with his bank , the scammers had taken over £500 from his card, but luckily we have CCTV on our road and my husband downloaded several perfect images of the scammers which have been passed to the police. apparently they have struck several times around East Acton. If they or any one like them enters our estate again they'll go out on the toe of my boot, I get so angry when these scumbags target our elderly and our vuneruble.Be Watchful!!

Found puppy

We have found a 3-4 month old puppy in Acton this evening. It is a brindle coloured Staffordshire Cross with distinctive markings and looks to have been looked after rather well... other than having no microchip!The fabulous staff at Goddards Vetinary practice can be contacted if you are lucky enough to be it's owner. re Wedding Photographer

Can anyone recommend a wedding photographer for 14 June next year? My daughter bought a voucher for a wedding photographer from a voucher website but the company are not responding to emails and phonecalls and there are some very disappointed people leaving comments on the internet. She should be able to get a refund but now won't have a photographer. They don't have a very big budget for their wedding.

Cupcake Avenue - what a success!

I'd just like to say a thank you to Cupcake Avenue and Reema, the lady who runs it.  They bailed me out with a birthday cake for my daughter, who's 6 (I was supposed to make it, a long story, but couldn't).  They only had 2 days notice and the cake they produced was absolutely fantastic!  We were thrilled.  And, our party guests were all crowding round the cake to take photos of it!   Even the party entertainer got her camera out!  Wow.  Over the moon and very reasonable, as well as delicious.  Thank you so much.  Highly recommended.

Fireplace restoration / installation recommendation

I have 2 victorian fireplaces that require some restoration work: missing grate/parts, tiles & hearth needs replacing.  Can anyone recommend a company who is able to do this?

Getting a board cut to specification

I am not a very knowledgeable diy man but an enthusiastic one. I'm going to try and construct a small pedestal I need at home, but I figure I do not have the tools to properly cut the board to specification (esp where I need the edge cut to a 45 degree gradient so they fit together). Do you know if there is somewhere I can get this done if I take the board and provide specifications? B&Q can't do the edging thing.
