Perryn Road - be alert

Just thought I would advise that a retired lady I know was mugged on her doorstep in Perryn Road on Wednesday at about midday.  A man completely dressed in black, wearing a hoody (so she has no idea of what he looks like) followed her up the garden path and snatched her bag from her shoulder. He ran off, got on to a mountain bike and road north up Perryn Road towards the footbridge.  She rang the police, who said they would search in the direction of his escape and then come to see her.  Twenty minutes later, they came to her house with her bag.  it had been left on the footbridge, after her cash had been removed.They told her to tell people to be alert , as something similar had happened recently in the same road, also in the middle of the day. It is a very quiet spot at that time of day, which makes the elderly particularly vulnerable.

District and Piccadilly line closure weekend 6/7 March

This weekend 6/7 March there is no service between West Kensington and Richmond or between West Kensington and Ealing Broadway, on the District line.On the Piccadilly line there is no service between Hammersmith and Northfields or between Hammersmith and Ealing Common or between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge. The Uxbridge branch of the Metropolitan line is not affected. Additionally there is no London Overground service between Gunnersbury and Stratford on Sunday. All due to planned engineering work.The Central line is planned to run a normal service throughout the entire line.Travelling between Acton and Heathrow Airport this weekend?Take the E3 bus to Northfields for the Piccaddilly line to Heathrow, or replacement bus service A from Acton Town station to Boston Manor, via Ealing Broadway.LU will be providing three rail replacement bus services as follows:Service A – for customers making local journeys between these stations only:Hammersmith - Ravenscourt Park - Stamford Brook - Turnham Green - Chiswick Park - Gunnersbury - Acton Town - Ealing Common - Ealing Broadway - South Ealing - Boston ManorService B – for all customers travelling between central London and Heathrow Airport in either direction: Ealing Broadway - Boston Manor, non-stop. Fine for back garden bungalow (PR 100 - Lon Bor Ealing))

At LAST, is Ealing finally getting tough???!!!!!  :-A woman who converted a house in Ruislip Road into flats and built a bungalow in the back garden without planning consent has been fined by Ealing Magistrates. Muntaz Bacai, 53, converted the house into two self-contained flats and built an outbuilding in the back garden, all without planning consent.  She rented out the properties while she lived at another address in Ruislip Road.  Ealing Council planning officers slapped her with an enforcement notice in 2008 that gave her six months to knock down the outbuilding, remove a fence between the house and bungalow and remove all alterations to the house that allowed it to be used as two flats.      Bacai appeared before Ealing Magistrates Court on Thursday, 28 January, 2010, where she admitted she had failed to comply with the enforcement notice.  She was fined £800 and ordered to pay £641 costs.  Officers returned to the site after the court case to confirm that Bacai has now complied with the enforcement notice. Councillor David Millican, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, said: "Unauthorised building work is a real bug-bear for residents, so it's important that we take action. I hope other landlords take heed that we will take action against those flouting the planning rules."The enforcement notice was issued under section 179 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

Parking Wardens & Berico moving

We live at the top of Churchfield road and today Berico are moving their print works. They've got a parking suspension for their lorries and cranes. The parking wardens as I write are putting tickets on the berico vehicles for parking in the suspended bays. They are explaining that the suspension was for them, but they've still ticket them. I can't believe how dumb these guys are.

AAAARGH! *%£^@ ENGINEERING WORKS!!!

I am flying to Valencia on Saturday from Gatwick North Terminal, and had my journey to Gatwick all planned out with a 50p Easybus ticket from Fulham Broadway all booked already.  Now I have received a helpful email from TFL informing me that there will be no District and Piccadilly Lines from Acton Town this weekend!  AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!Any suggestions for alternative routes to Fulham Broadway, preferably avoiding the rail-replacement bus (which in my experience always gets stuck in horrendous traffic) and the other alternative of mini-cabbing it to Fulham Broadway (and therefore negating the money-saving on 50p easybus ticket)?  Oh and I will be encumbered with a suitcase (albeit on wheels) as will be visiting family and so have to take lots of tea and biscuits and stuff that won't fit into a rucksack.

waste transfer station

A DEATH OF A WORKER AT THE WASTE TRANSFER YARD YESTERDAY WAS A SAD PART FOR ME TO REPORT AS MY TEAM KEPT HIM ALIVE TILL AMBULANCE ARRIVED BUT SADLY HE PASSED AWAY LAST NIGHT (3/3/10). TODAY THE YARD IS CLOSED AWAITING FURTHER POLICE INVESTIGATION AND ALSO INQUIRY BY HEALTH AND SAFETY INSPECTORS. THIS WAS A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN .ABOUT 10M YEARS AGO , A PERSON WAS KNOCKED DOWN BY A LORRY COMING OUT OF THE YARD WHO DID SURVIVE BUT HAD TO HAVE A LEG AMPUTATED.

Looking for a Taxi Firm that will take dogs.

Hello all,I have a 1 year old Labrador pup, called Emily.  I sold my car recently (hard times) and had an informal agreement with a local taxi driver who would carry my dog in the car to the vets when needed.Today I had a situation and I needed to get her to the vet urgently.  My driver was unable to help as he was already pre-booked which left us both having to walk to my local vet.  Luckily this was not a dire emergency,  we were both quite stressed and exposed our vulnerabilities.  We both managed a coped with this situation, but now I really need to have a list of numbers that I can call in the event of a serious emergency - for peace of mind.A lot of Taxi Firms are reluctant to carry dogs, and not very helpful.  Does anyone know of any firms that will take dogs in their cars?  I asked a London Cabbie today and he said use Computacabs, but mentioned that many will not take dogs.  I am hard of hearing, but Emily is not classed as a assistance dog yet.I am really looking for a list of numbers that I can dial in the event of an emergency.Please put our minds at rest.Michael and Emily.

Angie Bray and a "non dom"

The Guardian is asking readers if they suspect if judging by the missives etc from the Conservative prospective parliamentary candidates, that the local Tory candidate may have had a bit of help from a certain non-dom.I remember receiving one mail out from Angie, but then I called them to ask to take my name off their list.  That was a couple of years ago.  Have people been receiving glossy literature etc?

What;s going on in Churchfield Rd?

Two stories on the front page. First, we lose a printing company after 45 years due to parking restrictions. Second, CEOs (traffic wardens) are giving out tickets after 5 mins even though the first 30mins are free. Both of these events are outrageous. What is Ealing Council doing about this? More companies will close. More customers will stay away and Churchfield Rd will die. Someone must sort this out - NOW!

New car tyre in Acton

Can someone please recommend somewhere in Acton where I can get a new tyre fitted or even repaired? I have a screw stuck in a back tyre and I'm not sure how long it will stay inflated for.In the past I have received an unsatisfactory service at both Norwestco and Kwik Fit, so I do not intend to go back to them in a hurry.

post office

I had to spend three quarters of an hour standing in the queue at the post office just to post a letter today. The stamp machine was not working and I had to post my mail today.I asked the lady behind the counter why it took so long, cause there were only 3 counter assistanta at that time and the queue was to the door. The assistant said that there was nothing she could do because they were short of staff. What can one do about such situations?
