Turfing company

Hi all.  A friend of mine bought £270 worth of grass turfs to lay in his garden from Gravelgirlworld.com.  Unfortunately, the delivery company Gravelgirlworld.com used sent a very aggressive man to deliver the turfs and he refused to help his wife put them in her front garden, off the street.  Cut a long story short, the delivery driver went back to the depot with the turfs!  Gravelgirlworld.com are refusing to refund my friend, saying the turfs were at the depot (which have since wilted and died!) and it's not their problem.  However, the delivery company were paid by the turfing company, not my friend.  He's had a solicitor send a letter to the turfing company, but they're not responding and he's now concerned the money is mounting.  Any suggestions please?  I'm posting for him as English isn't his first language and he's asked me to help in this.  Thanks all.

Park maintenance to be reduced

I am dismayed to hear that 82 out of 100 Ealing parks are to have their maintenance reduced. I'm really keen to know which of our Acton parks will be affected.I gather there is a problem with the contract. No surprise there of course. Could one of the current Acton councillors tell us a bit more?

More Damp

Can anyone help, please.  We had a loft conversion done 6 years ago and over the past 18 months to 2 years there has been a leak in our 1st floor window (above the window and below the loft conversion) but the window itself is good.  We re-sealed it too.  However, slowly, slowly the leak returned and now, the whole wall externally and internally on the side of our semi is a soaking mess.  The paint on the outside is bubbling from underneath (it's rendered where the loft conversion was built and I've done enough research to know the water is trapped underneath the paint somehow).  The other part of the wall, brick is soaking too.  Inside, we now have huge damp patches.It's the whole wall, which is very long, not a patch of damp, but the whole wall.  The roof looks good.  There is no guttering on that side of the wall, only the rendering.  The builders scratch their heads and were willing to write us off as "it's normal".  Well it isn't and I'm mad as hell about it.  They are now thinking about what the causes can be and whilst they do that......anyone out there who might know what the cause is please?

Local Jewellers

Finally found Jewellers - in South Ealing Road - to replace my watch battery. Big 'chains', if they can be bothered, always charge at least £10 but NKay's charged £5 so I bought myself some new earrings as well. Worth a visit.

Andrew Martin Furnishing fabric sale £2 metre all.

Went there today and was amazed. Very tasteful top end stuff I thought. Prices normally £35 - £95 per metre. One snag is you have to buy the whole roll but they do come in various sizes. Take the car if you are going as you will probably want to stock up! It's at Access storage , 87 Kimber Road, Southfields, SW18 4FS.
