Middle aged man with gray hair tried to force enter property

Hi all, just wanted to post about something that happened earlier on and see if anyone else experienced anything similar.Today at 12.30pm someone was at the door ringing. Usually unless there is someone I am expecting I do not answer the door so I left it. Then he rang again and I left it. He then kept the finger on the ringer for about 5 seconds and afterwards tried to open the door with his hands by grabbing the door lock lip and possibly the letterbox as well. At this point i went downstairs and shouted who is it and he took a step back and said something in drunken english and went away. As he was going away, he put his hoodie on.He had blue jeans and black jacket. He looked middle aged, white with short-ish gray hair. The police have been notified as well. This was in W3 Acton Lane behind the swimming pools.

Mungo Ireland, Putney.

It's a bit of a long shot, but can anyone interested in Putney history help me out, or it's a long drive from Wales to Lavender Hill Archives at Clapham Junction.In the early hours of 18 October 1964 while working as a security guard on the Heron Trading Estate Acton, Mungo Ireland from the Ashburton Estate Putney was attacked by 2 unknown persons. He was admitted to hospital with head injuries.What I am keen to find out is whether the attack was reported on in the local press. I do know for sure that when he died on 3 March 1965 it was reported on. I have a very valid reason for finding out if the attack in 1964 was reported on. Regards. Hosts needed for Refugees At Homein Acton

It's ages since I asked for more hosts and we now have several hosts in Acton and lots in West London.Acton is very popular among Syrian refugees as there is a community here already. New pavement Churchfield Road

Saw last night that they have started to lay a nice new grey pavement on the far end of churchfield road towards central station. Only on one side at the moment but looks very nice. anyone know if they plan to do this all the way down? be great if it could also be widened to allow more alfresco dining. could also do with a few more trees to give the area a real 'village' feel- if any council guys are reading this, take note!

Acton Park: Birdies closing Putt in the Park opening Pizza section?

Well that's what it says on Facebook and by usually well-informed folk.On balance good news I would think as that close competition made it hard for either to do well.But I do hope it's more than pizza. Mum loves having lunch in the park and loathes pizza.

I have received a consultation from Ealing about Acton Central parking on roads adjacent to Churchfield Road.  It has been initiated by petitioners from Derwentwater, Stuart, Newburgh and Grove Roads.  It appears they want to extend the parking restrictions.  What are people's thoughts?

The Acton Central bookswap is empty!

I don't know if it's lots of people borrowing a single book and not returning itorone or two taking masses of volumes for some nefarious reason.I only have three donated volumes left - which I will put down there this morning.But I know over 3,000 books have been placed there since June 2012 - surely some of those must still be in circulation.All donations - either direst to the swap or, of paperbacks, to me for backup, gratefully received.

Churchfield Road works - noise on Saurday afernoon

All good and well these new pavements - but it is all a bit NOISY.My understanding is that noisy building works are not allowed on Saturday after one pm? Can anyone confirm that?Also does anybody know the name of he councillor who deals with these matters?Thanks!Bart

Someone living under the footbridge

Someone/several people seem to have made the area below the Perryn Rd footbridge(that goes over the railway line) their home. I've had problems for at least 18 months on and off with noise coming from the bridge late at night, especially in the summer months.  Always reported to the non emergency number. But a couple of weeks ago I noticed a tent. Thought it may have been dumped. Shoes a few days later and a couple of days ago I noticed 2 people who seem to have set up camp. Any ideas what can be done about this? The homeless chap in Chiswick just sets up somewhere else when he's moved on.

I've been reading reports of the TfL consultation with residenrs and traders along the Chiswick high Road. Not strictly Acton business except many of us shop and eat in Chiswick too.  A trip to eat Fouberts icecream ok a summer date for us since my children were small.
