Another bloc vote by Labour Councillors

Yet again Acton is blighted by another obtrusive, unwanted block of flats, squeezed into too small a site not fit for purpose, nor designed as such.  48 Horn Lane, where the Mermaid Carwash.  Bloc voting again by the usual suspects.  They neither care or wish to.  The dumping ground for Ealing Council.  Wake-up all.

It is Recycling Week 2015 and LBE has this natty interactive little room by room guide:  www.recyclemystuff.org.ukDon't forget though that there are many places that you can take and leave stuff that you no longer want legally.  You don't have to rely on the Council's facilities.However the Council do have a reusable collection now:http://www.ealing.gov.uk/info/200970/recycling_services/1611/re-use_collection_serviceDon't forget the 3 Rs:  Reduce Reuse & Recycle - and the order that they come in.  The less you waste then the less there is to find a home - any home - for!

Parcel delivery problems with Royal Mail?

I have done a fair bit of internet shopping recently - hadn't done much for a while but now Amazon say they will pay their taxes, am more inspired.Until recently, I've never had a delivery problem. But in the last month, THREE parcels have not arrived. One from AllBeauty and two from different Amazon Marketplace suppliers - the latter ordered on the same day.I wonder if it is a problem along the chain or something nefarious at Acton Sorting Office. Seems a strange coincidence.Deliveries from the (much loathed) Yodel have been fine.Anyone else experiencing similar?

White pigeons

There have been three white pigeons visiting our garden this week. They all have rings on them, so we guess they are probably homing pigeons that have perhaps been used as 'release doves' at a wedding or funeral locally.Any ideas where they might have come from or who they belong to?

Found Boots Glasses

This may be a long shot but I found a light blue Boots glasses case this morning around 10.30am down Avenue Rd near the South Acton Estate. The glasses I think belong to a lady.If no takers I'll drop them off in Boots in Acton High Street.

Crossrail + HS2 + Old Oak Interchange

How do I contact real people at British Rail, Southern Trains, or TFL to query why no direct interconnection is planned between the current Southern Trains routes through Clapham Junction and Watford Junction? They provide about 20% of services through Shepherds Bush Overground and further south, but are unable to serve Willesden Junction or either of the planned new London Overground stations at the Old Oak Interchange unless the planned new station on the London Overground route is moved south of the point at which the routes diverge. This may involve siting the new station above the main Paddington lines and/or the canal.
