Planning solicitor required

I am looking for some recommendations for good planning law solicitor who can advise on the council's actions in a planning matter.  Is the solicitor used by the churchfield residents group for the Oaks Development plans recommended?

Would an independent post office work on Churchfield road?

Hello,I would love some feedback from the people who know best.  Myself and my partner are investing in a franchise of this business  http://postandpackinguk.com and are very keen on a site on Churchfield road close to Acton Central.I know there used to be a post office there previously and i visited today and spoke to some shops who seemed keen on the idea.its a retail shop with all Royal mail postal services (same price), private mailboxes, printing,  selling packaging and stationary also.  We would also do a collect point for peoples internet shopping,  order fulfilment for small eBay sellers and business accounts for Fed Ex, DPD etc.I'm told that there is a buzz about the street the last couple of years and that it is slowly up and coming.  Is this true?    Also, one trader told me there was a similar shop that closed down.Any and all feed back most welcomeCheerskeith

Fighting mothers

I witnessed while being in a traffic jam in Noel Road the most extraordinary scene on Thursday. Two mothers fighting.This incident took place in front of other parents and children. These two women were ripping each other's clothes, spitting and kicking. Their own children were crying, but the baying banchees watching just chose to do nothing. I believe the police were called. Acton 2015.

Spectacles

My brother had a few too many sweet sherries with a friend the other evening, and left his glasses in a pub.  Would have been the Red Lion and Pineapple, on Friday (May 1st) night.  He's gone back to the pub a couple of times, and even the police station, where he was told "there are no Good Samaritans in Acton".  Well, sometimes there are, so if anyone found some glasses could you let me know?  Thanks!

Angie Bray denies climate change

Man made climate change is mainstream science, and in my opinion it is very strange that Angie Bray decides to stand in the denial camp. Has she done some, as yet unpublished, scientific research? Developer led planning processes - Friary Park

We're seeing an increase in developer led planning processes and applications across the country and Friary Park estate in Acton is one of them.  What we need to see by our Council is an open suburban/urban planning process that actually responds to local need.  The Friary Park area is a suburban and the Catalyst proposal for a 20 - 29 storey tower block (yes, it's now been confirmed as up to 29 floors by Catalyst themselves) is classed as an urban project. The density PTAL of an urban area and project exceeds that of a suburban area and the Catalyst proposal has higher density levels than our current suburban area would allow.  So, what to do if you're the Council?  Reject the plans by the developer with a flea in their ear and tell them to rethink and design so that the area is served well by this proposal?  No.  It seems, from what Catalyst was saying, and from the classification of this proposal as urban, that our beloved Council, who protect us so well, are willing to re-designate our suburban status to urban, by the flick of pen probably.  Any consultation on this one?

NO HOTEL  NO  FLATS - SAVE OUR GREEN CORRIDOR, SAVE OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD AND SAVE OUR CITY!!

I AM STILL REELING OVER THE HOTEL APPLICATION A TOTAL SHAMBOLIC DECISION TO DEFER for the THIRD TIME!!WARA (West Acton Residents Association) Nearly won the refusal of the Hotel Application which was unnecessarily deferred mainly by Tory Cllr Joanna Dabrowska on that night! She has since explained her reasons but members refuse to accept her reasons as the panel had the opportunity prior to the Planning Committee day to consult the legal department to refuse on policy grounds.  Instead of refusing the hotel application the Councillors dithered about what CCTV camera there’s going to be in Park View or where they might park 12 meter coaches that must not be there anyway. It is blatantly obvious HOTEL proposal is wholly unsuitable for numerous reasons. Rubber stamping of over developments will not be tolerated any more!!! Along with Jonathan Notley's help WARA won the refusal of the Mcdonalds application!!  Now the Hotel application has been postponed till after the elections and I have to start all over again my demonstrations but my residents and I are not giving up the fight!! However unlike the Bus Depot which I was supported tooth and nail from the previous MP Andy Slaughter, GLA representative Richard Barnes and all of the party politics councillors! Fantastic support we had but these days its about which developer has the most monies to build and Ealing Planners do not consult we residents thoroughly. Once finished with us the planners and developers will move onto your area so lets Unite in Solidarity to get the best candidate who will fight tooth and nail for us! Its your choice and make that informed choice ask questions of the candidates in writing what commitment they have towards stopping inappropriate over developments and how committed are they to saving our green corridor, our neighbourhood and our city!!

Do you have memories of Hanwell carnival?

As June 20th approaches (way, WAY too fast) we’re putting the finishing touches to this year’s Hanwell Carnival event programme. We’re wallowing in nostalgia this year – the procession’s theme is “Historic Hanwell” (and wait till you see what we have lined up!) and we have a History Tent in the park too.  In the programme we want lots of memories from people who have been to carnival in years gone by. Have you any special memories you can share?  And if you have pics from the ‘60s/’70s/’80s ….. we'd love to see them!

In a divided community like Ealing Central and Acton...

Are the Lib Dems the natural choice to balance views?Or is this a vote for the Tories "by the back door" as Rupa Huq claims?We live in an unfair society - those on the Sunday Times Rich List have doubled their wealth in the past ten years. This happened under both Labour and Conservative governments. Will either of them now act to prevent a continuation of this concentration of wealth in increasingly few hands? Are today's Labour Party even actually socialist?In my view Britain should move towards a Scandinavian style society. Discuss

Man on a bike says Waitrose are finalising deal

Waiting for the level crossing to open at ACton Central, I started chatting to a bloke on a bike. He told me he worked for a hedge fund consortium who were putting the finishing touches to the financing for the Oaks. The Waitrose sigh up was complete. Not exactly admissible in Court,but I thought you might like to know.

Premium Parking permits

For a fee Ealing council are offering this permit to any business/ individual from inside or outside the borough. In their statement they cite doctors needing this while visiting patients. One would hope that  doctors visiting patients would have and appropriate card exempting them from any payment. This permit will cover every zone in the borough and also allow parrking in meter bays.The permit will cost £1500 per year and the council say they will only issue 25 at any one time. Consultation was by way of draught in the local free paper. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

Angie Bray's appalling voting record

With the election so close I thought I would have a look at how our MP has been voting in the House of Commons. The TheyWorkForYou.com site has some interesting information.Here are just some of the issues:Of course she voted in favour of the 'Bedroom Tax'.  Against a Bankers Bonus Tax, For an increase in VAT and a tax on plane tickets. Against an increase in tax of incomes over £150,000. Against the restriction of private patients using the NHS facilities. For the increase of tuition fees to £9,000 pa. For an end to financial support for 16-19 year olds in training. For the ridiculous privatization of Royal Mail (given away at a fraction of it's market value by a so-called business minded government). Against funding for the creation of jobs for young people. Against improving benefits for the disabled. For a reduction in welfare benefits.  Even the poor badgers got it as she voted in favour of the cull.Her voting pattern has seen the wealthy prosper whilst the rest of us suffer.  I suggest checking out the website. It makes interesting reading.
