A level - distance learning/online

Hi has anyone got any experience of distance learning colleges offering A Level courses,  any to avoid,  good ones etcI'm toying with doing one just for "fun"  so would need outside of work hours so thought distance learning may work.  Perhaps I am being mad,  who knows!

Marble Mantelpiece, Local Shop?

Does anyone know of a local stonemason or shop that has marble off cuts? We need a mantelpiece or shelf that doesn't cost the earth to be placed above the small fireplace. All pointers welcome and ta muchly.

Missing cat alert

The Oaks - Car Park what will happen?

Does anyone know whether the car park will remain open for a while before redevelopment of The Oaks?Morrisons car park is a nightmare to find a space especially on Fridays, so where will people park if the car park at The Oaks closes?Mind you Acton might find that many shoppers go elsewhere since the shops in The Oaks will have gone!

I am collecting clean textiles for use by Mary's Meals, a charity which feeds some of the poorest children in the world. If you have old clothes, table or bed linen,curtains or shoes you could donate, I'd be pleased to receive. This is a well organised and effective charity and a worthwhile cause. Rubbish collection service!

During the Christmas period our collection day is Saturday instead of Thursday.Saturday morning our 2 green boxes, white plastic sack and food bin were all dumped just inside the front gate, preventing anyone making a delivery from entering the property! Can't they even be bothered to replace them where they found them?Then on checking we discovered that they hadn't even emptied the black rubbish bags from the dustbin! Other neighbours were more fortunate.Looking down the street rubbish was strewn all over the road.This has been reported to Streetwatchers. What a rubbish service we now have!

Grey Cat found

A grey tabby cat found in Park View, North Acton today on 30/01/14. It's a female cat seems around 6months old. I have taken to the Vet as the cat doesn't appear well. It has no collar or microchip but looks well kept so I assume it has an owner. If you know anyone who lost a cat of this description, then please message me on this forum. Regards, Nat

Did Annyone See Anything Unusual in the North West as the Sun was gowing down?

I was walking down Acton Lane, and had got to the junction of Acton Lane/Avenue Road and was looking at the Sun setting, there was still enough light to see most things. I was looking and there were telephone wires in my field of vision and at first I couldn't believe what I was seeing, it looked like something in the western distance through the wires I could see what looked like something on fire, falling down slowly, and by the distance I would say about 500 to 1000 yards, and the thing on fire about the size of a car.I took some pictures on the phone but when I looked at them I couldn't see anything on them, even though I zoomed in.Got to keep the loonies on the grass-pink floyd

ASDA Xmas Order

Ordered xmas shopping on Sunday for delivery today by 7pm. Confirmation received. No show by 7.30pm so my husband rings, only to be notified that the order was cancelled! Some ridiculous explanation about the payment not going through. One, there is money in the bank and 2, why not notify us if that was the case.They are claiming that we'll have delivery by tomorrow but can't confirm a time.  We've got some pizzas in the freezer but not enough for 12! Looks like a late night  food shopping trip for us tonight!

West Acton drain problem?

Has anyone else had a problem with their drains today? A friend by North Acton Playing Fields had a problem yesterday and then this morning our neighbour knocked to say the drains at the side of the house were blocked. Just noticed a neighbour across the road trying to rod their drain too. Too much of a coincidence?

Pub Closure - Chatsworth

St Mary's A&E

Had the misfortune last night of being taken to St Mary's A&E by ambulance. It was the first time I had been to that department and I pray it will be the last. It was more like a war zone than a hospital department. The magnificent staff had to deal with people hurling abuse at them, a drunk refusing to vacate his bed ( there was nothing wrong with him he just didn't have the money to get home) and a department so cramped there were no seats for patients.  It was the only hospital I could be taken to as Northwick Park wasn't accepting any more ambulances and Ealing had them queuing outside.

Green surge in Ealing Central & Acton?
