Filming on Maldon Road - 20/21 May

There is filming for ITV's Lewis next week - at 50 Maldon Road.Will include a simulated police raid!40 people plus vehicles and generator - 20+ parking bays spread around Maldon, Acacia and Cumberland Park.

Do you wonder why there are so many poor roads and footpaths in Acton? 

In preparation for CCA’s Acton hustings this Wednesday I thought I would check on the amount of road spending in Acton whilst the Conservatives were in power.  See spreadsheet.  I already knew how much Labour has put in during the 2011-2015 period when they have been in charge:  £975,618.  They only managed to resurface 14 sections of road and pavement.  Less than £1 million for three wards over four years.  If Labour had spread its £17.5 million of road spending equally across all wards Acton would have got £2.3 million – so Acton has lost of £1.3 million compared to the average ward under Labour.  I went through the old cabinet papers relating to £25 million of Conservative road spending in the previous four year cycle 2007-2011.  The Conservatives tackled 91 sections of road and pavement in Acton to a value of £4.2 million.  By this measure Acton has lost £3.2 million compared to what was actually spent when the Conservatives were in power.

Loud music playing early this morning

I got woken up at about 5:30 this morning by the deep bass of what sounded like electronic dance music. I thought it was in our road (Buxton Gardens) but despite having a wander along Perryn and Rosemont, couldn't locate it. Bumped into a neighbour doing the same... Any ideas anyone?

Local elections - hustings meeting 14 May

The Chuchfield Community Association is hosting a hustings meeting for the local elections on 14 May 7.30pm at Acton Town Hall. All the parties standing in the local elections (and the 1 independent) are being invited to attend. It is a unique opportunity to directly put questions to the candidates. Parking Services

Has anyone had any experiences with Parking services especially Gina Cole, the Processing Manger ? I received a PCN in a place where my vehicle was not parked on any yellow lines and the enforcement officer was not in full standard uniform. Despite, presenting photos they played no part of the challenge to the PCN by her! It's shocking to learn she's up for the "Parking person of the Year" by British Parking Awards 2014 ! and lectures at Enforcement summits! But doesn't consider evidence for a PCN ! -Anyone else had similar experiences with her ?

Cyclists in park

As I am still quite angry, I will word this as best I can, given that I am quite a reasonable and understanding person. I walk through Acton Park several times day, usually with my daughter. We also use the new crossing just outside the park gates on the Vale. Every single day, there are at least one or two cyclists who whizz through the park at the most ridiculous speed. This is very unsafe for other people. Today, sadly, one mother on a bike just managed to stop in time before crashing into my daughter. Didn't apologise, just muttered under her breath and away she went. Cyclists also fail to stop at the lights at the crossing outside, which infuriates me even more. If you cycle through the park, please do so with consideration for others. You need to cycle at a speed where you can stop safely without injuring others. You need to slow down when passing someone with children. The park is the one place where children should be free to roam and run around and have fun.If you want to be the next Bradley Wiggins, please practice somewhere else.

New cheaper Morrisons? Selling out of date Pizza...YEH

Decided to buy a meat feast pizza today, but was unable to read the use by date until I got home.  Today is the 13th, pizza, use by 12th.  Not the first time Morrisons have sold out of date products at full price.Signs up saying Welcome to new cheaper Morrisons.  Leaves a lot to be desired.  Beef and lamb are exempt, and the prices up.  Cheaper to buy from Tim our friendly butcher.Solution...back to Asda for essentials and Tim for meat, and of course sausages.

Blue Chip Company volunteering day - available

I have a team of  upto 12 who work for leading Uk Blue Chip Company. We are looking to donate a day to a charity and will fund the costs of any work .  Great if it was an Acton or local charity . New Imperial Trust Computer System !

Hammersmith Hospital queues in outpatients, some people waiting for four hours todayWaited at Charing Cross a couple of weeks ago for two hours after self check in pretended to work and didn't.Just phoned outpatients to sort out a mixed up appointment to be told they are not taking phone calls and to email. Email returned saying if need urgent response to phone outpatients number !!!!!Hillcrest Surgery is switching next week !

W L Free School seeks its third Head Teacher....

Some may remember my objections to Toby Young's bright idea of a free school for Acton and the debate on this site c.4/5 years ago. Toby and his mates lucked out with the election of the current government and that nice Mr Gove. However the new school ended up not in Acton but located in LBHF premises in Hammersmith, thanks to the Tory Council, pending purchase of locally listed Pallingswick House, once 30 odd socially useful voluntary groups had been evicted by said council. Three years later the West London Free School is advertising for its third in a row Head Teacher, is planning on installing  a two storey block of portacabins at Palingswick House as building works are well behind schedule and has just bought a nearby newly converted office building for £9.25m to house 2 year groups, as Palingswick House will be too small......Some might say that to lose one head teacher is unfortunate. To lose two indicates a problem and their premises strategy, and its expense of great concern. However, as a free school the organisation is largely beyond public scrutiny (except Ofsted) so the detail and expense is hidden from us. Who you might ask is in charge of this mess? None other than Toby Young, formerly chair of the WLFSAT, now since Jan 2014 part time CEO  To quote the press release. "Given the challenges of managing an increasing number of schools, the Board of the West London Free School Academy Trust took the decision last year to appoint a part-time CEO. After an extensive search, Toby Young was selected for the role and his appointment was ratified by the Board on 7th January 2014." (In plain language, the Board, chaired by Toby Young, searched for a p/t CEO, and selected, Toby Young........presumably Toby stepped down as Chair at some stage so as not to appoint himself.......) Cosmo Lush is now Chair of WLFSAT. The school motto is 'Dare to learn', looks to me they should be taking some lessons. Pure Gym Mail drop

Did Pure Gym use an aeroplane for their mail drop yesterday?I have been picking them up all over my front garden, the street and the green. Not a single one in my letter box. Pretty sloppy and it doesn't make a great impression.
