Tree query -Overground

Can anyone who lives on the Overground line help me with a query please?  My garden backs onto the railway line and there are some massive trees that have invaded the back of my garden blocking the sunlight during the late afternoon.  I would like to prune/cut branches from these trees but as their trunks are not on my land but I assume on Network Rail's land I am not sure what my rights are.  I have been to Acton Central on numerous occasions to ask but nobody ever gets back to me!

ENERGY BOOST ON MONDAY

Energy Therapists will be at the London Buddhist Vihara, The Avenue, W4 1UD on Monday, 14th April, between 11am and 1pm (last session 12.45).  The session takes about 15-20 minutes and I am sure that you will feel really good at the end of that time, with lots of vital.A number of therapists come in each month and give their services free.  The Vihara kindly allow us to use the hall at no charge so a donation is most welcome  -  all donations are given to the Vihara.These sessions are not related to any religion, everyone is welcome.

Poor maintenance of roads in Acton

Has anyone noticed how the roads in Acton just get worse and worse? This was put to South Acton councillors John Gallagher, Yvonne Johnson and Mik Sabiers at the Ward Forum on 5 March. John Gallagher suggested that South Acton's roads had had more than their fair share of attention-well, he only had to step out of the Armenian Centre and look at the potholes on Mill Hill Rd or ride a bicycle along Bollo Bridge Road to see the reality. I believe only three South Acton roads have been resurfaced since 2010, let alone the pavements. Does anyone have precise information about this poor state of upkeep?

REMOVAL AND REPLACE OF LAMINATE FLOOR

We need the flooring taken up in several rooms (due to electrical rewiring)in a 4 bedroom house  and then to be re-laid when the work is done.  Can anyone suggest someone who does this type of work?  All suggestions will be much appreciated.

Will builders visit property with a prospective buyer for renovation quote?

I was wondering if anyone could help with this random query.  I'm thinking about putting an offer in on a property in Acton, but it needs a massive amount of work (structural/renovations) and I'd really like to get a ballpark sense of what it might cost to get various bits of work done before I make an offer.Does anyone know any builders who would agree to pay a short (ideally unpaid) visit (to W3) to view the property with me as a prospective buyer with a view to being engaged to do the work if all goes through?I've no idea whether this would be common practice or unheard of - am a complete novice!Any help or contacts would be hugely appreciated.  Thank you!

BOMBAY BISTRO/ VARDAR

I feel it's time to let you all know what is happening.I am in the process of selling. A very slow and frustrating transaction.However, as spotted by various people, the owners-to-be are in there making their changes.They are indeed Macedonian. They used to have a business at the big Fuller's pub towards The Vale. It will be called Vardar (as before).I haven't seen a menu yet, so I'm as intrigued as you are. Sounds good though.If they do it right and don't turn it into a Macedonian club I think it will be an excellent addition to Acton (so short of decent eateries) with lots of mezze to share and such.They are very nice people so I wish them every success and hope that you will like it. And I'll take this opportunity of thanking those of you who supported Bombay Bistro and had the sad experience of seeing Chef loose interest and watching it go downhill. This was a great shame as, when we started, it was probably the best for miles.

Local Party Manifestos

I have been looking on the web for the party manifestos for the local elections in Ealing in a couple of weeks. I've found the ones for Labour, the Lib Dems and UKIP but no sign of one for the Conservatives or the Greens. I know the Greens are a small party and maybe don't have enough local activists to produce one but surely the Conservatives do. Perhaps one of their supporters on this forum could tell us when it is available and post a helpful link. It would be useful to compare the policies of all the parties, there's very little information in their leaflets.

Local cinema saved by campaigners

Unfortunately its not the Gala bingo hall (which at one time was a cinema) on Acton High StIt's the Bexhill Playhouse which opened in 1921. It was due to be demolished or turned into flats and offices. But local campaigners have raised enough money to reopen it as a 2 screen cinema.Pity we couldn't have done something similar. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-26642041

Gala Bingo conversion to Destiny Church Open Day Thursday 8th

As part of their public consultation, the new owners of the Gala Bingo Hall and erstwhile cinema in the High Street are having an open day to show their plans for the conversion of the building into a church.It's 1600 - 2000 and open to all in the area.I think the pastor said he would be there plus the project manager - who comes from a company called Richmond in Northern Ireland who specialise in converting Bingo Halls and Cinemas - many of them listed like this one - into, mostly Pentecostal, churches. Who knew there was a market? We had a tour last week and it does look very sad at the moment.

Fiasco of street cleaning & refuse collections

8am this morning.....the mechanical road/gutter sweeping machine is out in our streets.  Great, one would think, but, unfortunately, this was way before the refuse and recycling has been collected.  I have emailed the Council, yet again, sigh, and hope that this scheduling problem is addressed once and for all.It is an ongoing problem and it's wasting tax-payers' money.  When are they going to get this right?
