Boston Marathon bombings

I've just found out about the bombings at the Boston Marathon yesterday.  How shocking!  And so tragic for both the participants and spectators at this event.  Many run to raise money for charities.

Burglary on Chatsworth Gardens

Police activity there early this morning, apparently one of the houses was burgled overnight and the resident's were in the house.  Woke up to find their house burgled, very scary indeed and feel for the owners.Just thought I would post so residents can be vigilant and ensure locks and windows etc are in place.

Premises on Churchfield Road ?

Does anyone know who or what is moving into the large corner premises at the top of Churchfield Road on the left as you head towards Morrisons . The premises have a new lick of white paint and some visible large red lampshades ?

Notification of Planning Application - East Churchfield Road

Hi all,A few days ago I received a letter of a notification of planning application for 'LAND TO THE EAST SID OF ACTON RAILWAY STATION EAST CHURCHFIELD ROAD, ACTON, W3 7LL'.I haven't looked into this properly yet as the link I've been given doesn't seem to be working but I thought I'd share this info as I was surprised not to see any comments on it here.. the proposal is as follows:Construction of a five storey building comprising eighteen residential flats; internal access, parking and cycling parking and refuse storage (following demolition of brickwork walls and partitions).I'm not sure if I am one of a few that have received this as I actually live on Churchfield Road. Was anyone else aware of this or does anyone know how to get more info on it?Lucy

Acton Transport Museum Open Day

Do I need to by tickets for this weekend at Acton Transport Museum Depot or can I pay at the door?What can I expect?  My 2 year old son is mad about trains so I presume he'll love it.

Police horses in Acton Park

Yesterday there were two mounted officers in Acton Park.  They were busting street drinkers and skunk smokers then they went down Birkbeck Grove into Southfields.When did this start happening?  (Cheaper than a city farm)

Great Active Ealing Staff at Twyford Sport Centre

These guys are a real credit to the borough! My son has just finished another great multi sports week at Twyford Sports Centre and again, the staff have just been fantastic! Not only are they all always friendly and helpful, they are doing an amazing job inspiring young people and being great role models. Brilliant.

Save our hospitals campaign

Public meeting on Wednesday 17 April at 7.45 Ruskin Hall, Church Road, Acton. Speakers include Andy Slaughter MP. Then a demonstration on Saturday 27 April : assemble Acton park 12.30 for a march and rally at Ealing Common from 2pm. Ealing Council have already insisted that the Government review their hospital closure plans. Now the community must unite to say "Hands off our hospitals!" Please join us.

Just been speaking to Dave in the papershop. The curtain shop by the Belvadere has closed down and a Bakery will be taking its place.

Shoe shop finally gone

So the cheap shoe shop that used to be on the high street next to Superdrug finally closed.  As I was walking past today I heard someone working on the site tell someone it was going to be a Costa. Probably not good for Coffee Etc or the place next to Scope but I doubt it will worry Churchfield road and it will help bring the high street up a bit.  I don't remember the shoe shop ever looking very busy.
