Acton Primary School Consultation

Just a reminder that the deadline for filling out Ealing Council's Primary School Consultation is approaching. Next Tuesday 31st May is the cut off date. You can complete online by going to: http://www2.ealing.gov.uk/services/council/consultations/current_consultations/primary_school_places_Acton/_docs/primary_school_places_in_acton.htmA planning application has gone in for the 'installation of a temporary single storey detached classroom unit with external ramp / steps and canopy and erection of fencing with gates' at Derwentwater Primary School. Refuse collection arrangements for next  week

Published 23 May 2011Most refuse and recycling collections will be a day late because of the spring bank holiday. The chart below details the changes. Saturday collections are not affected and will take place as normal. Collections return to normal on Monday 6 June. Poet's Brasserie

We tried this the other night.  Hubby is a chef and we like good food, so were hopeful.The caprese salad was lovely and fresh, and the calamari nicely cooked, not rubbery.We both had saltimbucco with home-made gnocchi, which was delicious.  Slightly salty because of the pancetta, but very good.The tiramisu was lovely, not quite boozy enough for me though and slightly too big, but very good.It wasn't a cheap night, but for a lovely meal in a relaxed atmosphere we were very pleased with it.  Staff were friendly too.

I notice that the flower shop on Churchfield Road is moving -- does anybody know where it's moving to?I also notice that the Spar shop down the Market end of Churchfield Road has its lease up for sale.  What a blow that will be to Acton! (Sarcasm doesn't really work on forums, does it?).

FREE Double Mattress offered in V.Good Condition

Cleaner  for  Acton; near Japanese school.

We need a cleaner on a ad hoc basis to come in and dust, hooover, mop and polish and general. We will provide all materials - you would need to be able to work quickly and effiecently with the best use of time ie: leave something to soak while you hoover. This would suit someone who wants to save up for a holiday  etc as a bit of spare cash. There may also be opportunity for childcare on odd opportunities. Over 21's only please. Rate of pay  £8.50 per hour. paid monthly using a payroll service. 2 refences needed.

Recommended – Kincaid Landscapes

After checking recommendations on this site, the ChiswickW4 website, and going through the usual process of getting the various landscapers in to provide quotes etc.. we chose Kincaid and are very glad we did. Although we have not had anything fancy done, they cleared a jungle (bushes, shrubs and the like), levelled the ground far better than we thought possible, laid new turf, and re-seated some York stone slabs for us. They did what they said they would do, kept us informed at all stages, and did a very good job for a very competitive price.Contact details are Aaron McCormack at Kincaid Landscapes on 020 8579 6022 or 07904 560501.Best of all, they did what we asked, without telling us what we should do, but adding a few suggestions for the future, as well as providing advice on planting, screening and lawn care;. Postal delays

I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing postal delays? I know we have had two bank holidays, but there are at least 4 items of post which were posted last Thursday, from various parts of the country, which have still not been received. Telephoning Acton sorting office is a waste of time - they insist that all post is delivered, and the office cleared each evening.I lost post last year when they employed a temporary worker who failed to deliver the post as he either 'ran out of time' or 'couldn't find the road' - the two responses we got from the sorting office. This post was supposedly sent out the next day, but 10 months later, it still has never appeared.So, am I just being unlucky, or are others experiencing the same problems?Maybe the friendly postie who posts on here could enlighten me?

Fred Dinenage Murder Casebook.

Are there any Chiswick residents following Fred's episodes on the C+I Channel on Sky 553 on Sunday evenings? He has dealt with Christie of 10 Rillington Place, and 4 other infamous murderers. On Sunday May 29th at 9.00pm he is presenting the 1 hour drama/documentary dealing with Harold Jones the former Fulham, Putney and Hammersmith child killer and the suspect in many unsolved murders, including 8 women who were killed between 1959 and 1965 in the Hammersmith, Chiswick, Brentford and Kensington districts. Fred and Professor David Wilson have done a marvelous job on these documentaries. Playground - South Acton Green

Does anybody know what is happening with the extension to the children's playground on South Acton Green?!  Some contractors spent a long time clearing the area, and putting all the lovely new wooden apparatus in...but they left weeks ago now and it has just been left fenced off with the grass growing longer by the day!  What a shame!

Computer monitor needed

Hi all, I wonder if anyone may be looking to get rid of a computer monitor. One of the gentlemen I work with who has a learning disability had an accident with his computer last week and the monitor stopped working. I've had a look on Freecycle but there doesn't seem to be much available at the moment & any monitors that do come up seemed to be snapped up immediately. Please PM me if you think you can help.

Games shop on the Mount - decent prices.

Just walked past this place and went in, saw some decently priced games for the kids. Think this will definitely be of interest to those who used to use the Blockbusters before it closed.Thought I would help spread the word - its next to the Kings Head pub on the mount near the market stalls, think it used to be a florist a while back..I didnt know that you could sell unwanted games to shops but this place takes them in, good to get new games for the kids without dipping a hand in the pocket again!

GREENFORD LINE SUSPENDED (for two weekends)

A little bit short notice for tomorrow, but the closure also takes place the following weekend (including the Bank Holiday Monday):On Saturday 21, Saturday 28 and Monday 30 May, the line between West Ealing and Greenford will be CLOSED for track improvement work. London Paddington to Greeford services will not run. Alternative trains (presumably Heathrow Connect) will run between London Paddington, Acton Main Line, Ealing Broadway and West Ealing. NO alternative services will operate from Drayton Green, Castle Bar Park or South Greenford. Customers travelling to/from these stations should use local bus services. Customers travelling to/from Greenford should use the London Underground. Please check journey plans before travelling.

Goodmans/Capital House Estate Agents

I was wondering if anyone else had ever had experience with this company. We lived in Acton for 18 months in a flat managed by them and the whole time we found their service to be very thorough and attentaive. Since we have moved out they have been avoiding paying us our £1000+ deposit, even though we spent a considerable period of time cleaning the place and had a final inspection at which their agent seemed to be completely satisfied. We've now called 4 times and can't decide whether they are mistakenly forgetting to send it or purposefully delaying sending it.
