Giving away an Epson printer.....

Due to the fact we hardly print anything at all, our ink keeps drying up when we finally do wish to print, so we've finally decided to get rid of our Epson Stylus Photo 830 printer.  It prints colour and black and white.  Never had a problem with it when we were printing regularly!Anyone interested?  Nice looking, not too big.  Prints A4.Central Acton, you collect.  Will be taking to the dump/recycling centre in the next 2 days if no-one claims.

There's Ealing Skyride starting at 1000 - a marked car-free ride round west Ealing with lots of festivities attachedPlus it's the Big Lunch - lots of people getting together to meet their neighbours. Not sure how many round here but CARA in West Acton is definitely hosting a street closure and lunchPlus open gardens: "Three gardens in Mill Hill Road - nos 41, 65, 69 (Redwing) - are being opened jointly as part of the NGS on Sunday. Missing Cat

Dear Everyone,Our black and white cat, Mruchek, has been missing since yesterday, 16 July 2010. He is an elderly, but very mobile cat, with a black coat and white paws and a pink nose. He has a white neck and black and white face. We have lived in the Shakespeare/Spencer Road area for more than fifteen years and he knows the area very well and during the day probably hides out in one of the back gardens of Spencer and Shakespeare road and may have got into trouble and can't climb back out. Mruchek is chipped.Please look in your garden, shed etc. particularly if you live on Shakespeare, Spencer or Chaucer Road to see whether there's a black and white 16-year old cat stuck in a shed or up a tree. I'm not a fan of Strictly Come Dancing although I know a lot of forum members are. So I was interested when the BBC said they would spice up the next series woth some A list celebs instead of the usual Z listers. The first one to sign up was announced today. Who have they got? Madonna? David Beckham? Prince William? Er...no...its.......Ann Widdecombe. oh.my.god. Think I'll stick with x-factor.

Advice for a tenant?

I live in a group of 5 flats, all of which have coin meters for gas and electricity. Since I moved in (5 months ago) we've continually received warnings and disconnection notices from the supplier, as it seemed the money was being collected from the meters but the bills weren't being paid (the same person owns all of the flats).I received a letter from the estate agent yesterday saying that the money collected from the meters isn't enough to cover the bills. From now on the difference will be divided up equally between the flats and we will have to pay it.I'm not impressed about this, because:- I didn't agree to this when I signed the tenancy agreement- Surely if the meter rate is wrong, that should be adjusted- I live on my own and there are families in some of the other flats, so I'm at a disadvantage if the extra is divided up equally- There is no indication of how much the discrepancy is- How am I to know that the owner is truthfully passing on the right amount? They could say any amountIs there anything I can do about this, or anyone I could speak to for advice?Any help welcome.Thanks,Jill

DANGEROUS AIR POLLUTION IN ACTON - AGAIN !!!

Clothing Collection implausibly claiming to help breast cancer

A leaflet came through my door today asking for clothes "for breast cancer prevention programme"The promoter is W & W Help Ltd.This is what the Northern Echo said about them last year:"RESIDENTS have been warned not to leave old clothes out for a collection company due to be wound up tomorrow.W&W Help Ltd has distributed leaflets to homes in Darlington asking for donations of unwanted clothes, which the company claims will be sent to the developing world.    "I have contacted Trading Standards and the Companies Investigation Branch. It will be an offence if they actually collect tomorrow."    Councillor Cyndi HughesLocal borough councillor Cyndi Hughes has discovered that the company is to be dissolved for financial irregularities, and has urged residents not to offer donations."The leaflets were circulated at the end of last week in my neighbourhood asking that people put old clothes out for collection to help the needy," she said."I have checked the company out on the Companies House website and the company is to be dissolved on (Tuesday) March 24."I have contacted Trading Standards and the Companies Investigation Branch. Knitters needed for the Tommy Hollis Fund

Firstly thank you to everyone who supported the Tommy Hollis Fund stall that we had at the Bedford Park and Chiswick Fetes. The support from the community has been great. We are currently looking for people who can knit. We have a pattern for knitted ducks that we would like people to make for us to sell at future events. We had 5 of these ducks for sale at the Chiswick Fete on Saturday and they were a big hit, sold out very quickly. They are super cute, could be made in yellow, white or brown with orange, yellow or white beaks.  I believe they need to be knitted using 4 needles - I don't knit so no idea how it works with 4 needles! We have a pattern that can be followed. If you are able to knit or know someone that wouldn't mind knitting ducks please get in touch. It would be great to hear from you. Cameron scores own goal on schools.....

In his interview with the NoTW today Dave apparently emotes his concern about a decent secondary for his children. His main home is in Notting Hill (Tory RBKC) Downing St is in Tory Westminster. Westminster has several high achieving secondaries but Dave is still worried. He has said that his children would attend state schools 'provided they were good enough' What is he on about?High achieving as defined by Ofsted in the state sector will be a million miles from Dave's Etonian standards. The Blairs used religion to justify their secondary choices (in LBHF, some way from DS) Toby's school might be a good choice?Good to see the PM facing the problem of all London parents looking for the best.Shame his cuts in the Building for Schools initiatitive will affect so many schools, esp in West London.

Southfield Road burst water main.

Burst has been repaired overnight, now awaiting infill and top surface before E3's etc can use. Acton Lane therefore clogged as Southfield is closed (except for access) between Acton Lane and Carlton Road junctions. Can't see it re-opening for buses today.Try to find alternative routes to Acton Lane

Legally Blonde - the lavatories etc

So, on daughter's insistence, we went to Legally Blonde at the Savoy Theatre last night and it was a pretty good show.But the treatment of the audience was SO RUBBISH.Predictably - for this show - the audience was at least 80% female. But did they make any extra loo provision? No of course not so while the Gents gaped cavernously, there were queues winding up stairs and round corners for the Ladies'Why is this acceptable?And is it OK to charge a small fortune for tickets and then stage it in a theatre with no airconditioning - or obvious ventilation, little public space and many narrow corridors? OK not quite black hole of Calcutta but no fun.Then there's the sheer exploitation: A programme - any programme - was £7 each. No-one seemed to have bought one. Ice-creams £3 each. ditto. No glasses of water available in a hot, crowded, unventilated space. I thought that was illegal.It's not that I couldn't afford to join in but that I loathe being ripped off. And this was. I got quite ratty (not a pleasant sight)Shame because it could have been a great evening and was just an OK one. Does rather put me off the commercial West End theatre.
