Taxi company to airports

Could any one recommend a local taxi company for heathrow and other airports? Ideally reliable, and with clean cars. I used to have a phone number for one but it doesn't seem to work any more. I have tried greentomato: clean cars, very friendly but they arrived 25 minutes late to pick me up. Many thanks,Alex

Recipe for disaster

Some day, someone will be hurt or worse at the morning drop off outside the gates of Derwentwater School and that some day really could be any day soon if the traffic congestion at the intersection of Shakespeare and Spencer that we witnessed this am is anything to go by. Ealing Council's waste/recycling lorry collecting, 3 or 4 lorries making deliveries to that new development on Shakespeare Road, bicycles, irate drivers, children crossing roads. It will happen. Ealing Council really should be doing more to make this junction safer. No deliveries or collection till after 9.30am at the very least. It's just a question of time before something goes terribly wrong here.

Kitten found in Allison Rd off Horn Lane

Late last night, my neighbours brought me a pretty kitten that had been trying to move in with them all afternoon/evening. Their cat was having fits. Babe was famished, polished off 2 1/2 pouches of Sheba in no time, but incredibly affectionate, lap dancer, so must have loving home, probably lost during one of first outings.Can only establish later if the kitten is microchipped due to vet opening hours, not wearing collar. Approximately 5/6 months old, mostly black head and back/tail (with some brown patches), very long tail, large white area around chest/under chin/tummy, white front paws (with one front leg brown and the other black), rear legs white up to knee joints, high, squeaky voice, sweet natured, playful, cheeky.Please help me re-unite the little saussage with its owner.

walking the Thames Path

Yesterday we walked from Maidenhead to Ditchley, A warm still day, the river calm with lots of wildfowl and the Queen's swans bending their graceful necks in salute. We had lunch (don't we always?) in a pub in Windsor and returned home via Richmond. A lovely day, the last walk of 2013.We will be walking twice in January 2014. Jan 16th will be an urban Thames walk and Jan 26th is likely to begin our trek from the source of the Thames in Oxfordshire. all details on our closed Facebook page. West Acton 'Estate Office'

Does anyone know what is happening with this building?The 'for sale' sign has gone and someone threw out lots of rubbish recently but now it all seems to have gone quiet.Anyone know if it has been purchased for residential development or retail?it was on the market for 1.2 million so i suspect the latter but some concrete info would be good.

If possible we will extend this service to Upminster.• between Ealing Broadway and Tower Hill around every 12 minutes in both directions.These trains would not stop at Aldgate East, Blackfriars, Gloucester Road, Sloane Square, Stepney Green or Temple stations. It is possible that some other stations may also need to close at times.Piccadilly line:No service would operate through the central area.We intend to run trains• between Acton Town and Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 around every 20 minutes in both directions• between Arnos Grove and Cockfosters around every 12 minutes in both directions.These trains would not stop at Heathrow Terminal 4, Heathrow Terminal 5, Hounslow West or Southgate stations. It is possible that some other stations may also need to close at timesLondon Overground not affected but will be busy.

May Elections

With the local and European Parliamentary elections taking place in May, I was wondering whether anybody could direct me to a website which displays a clear and concise breakdown of all the parties and their manifesto's? I know I can visit each party website but I was wondering if anyone knew of any 'compare' type sites that give unbiased and impartial advice? Thanks

Another strange Evening Standard Acton article

According to David Spittle's article in the Evening Standard's property section. Acton is a "urban mishmash, carved up by train tracks and busy roads into small, badly linked pieces that undermine any cohesive sense of community".Wonder if these journalists even visit the places they write articles about sometimes. Talk such rubbish.

Has no one realised that, if that long name is to be shortened, in the usual way, by forming a word from its initials,that word ( EAAC ) will  sound just like " YUCK !!!Pompous re-christeners should be mindful that they should do a bit of thinking first

redevelopment

Good news !! the oaks can be redeveloped. About time as it needs it.It can only do good for the area. There is already congestion all over London which happens in a major city , so a bit more won't make any diffrence. Peopel should be grateful developeres want to attract business and good quality business and people to the area , rather than the shops we currently have in Acton which leave a lot to be desired.
