broken printer available to someone handy

My Canon Pixma iP4200 printer has suddenly broken, and no amount of searching the internet fora has offered a solution.  So before I put it in the bin, I wondered if there anyone handy would like it.  It was a great printer, fantastic for photo printing.  Please PM me if interested.

Planning Committee visits Hanson Cement Plant 11am this Sat 8th March

and although the Committee are invariably running late, protesters are advised to get there by around 10:45 am.The visit is designated a "Drive By" (just WHO makes these insane decisions?!) however this has been vigorously challenged and a full site visit on foot to the site has been demanded, as well as the Planning Committee also visiting and viewing the monstrosity from affected resident's gardens.

Do go and see "Sister Act" at HMP Bronzefield  March 6/7/8/9

This is a Pimlico Opera production - they have taken musicals into prison since 1991 when they started with our own Wormwood Scrubs production of Sweeney Todd (we were there!)This year's is honestly the best they have ever done. The women at HMP Bronzefield play all the female roles except two - obviously the production has to bus in the male actors.The piece is great, the production and direction both good. What is amazing however is the performance of three of the prisoners in particular. And one, Gholda, is astonishing. She has the voice for a proper career after release.One of the men, playing the villain, Curtis, was also a prisoner once - till he was discovered by this team. Now he understudies Lenny Henry as part of a rather successful theatrical career.For the price of a ticket and a trip to near Heathrow, you get to see the most extraordinary work with prisoners, go inside a prison, spot a star of tomorrow, and have a great time.Oh and cherry on the cake? Bronzefield was the first prison to have its own branch of the WI. Go on Wednesday and you can see their crafts and buy their cakes....and talk to the committee - all of whom, except Dee the warden, are serving time.

Local IT Person Needed To Set Up a Wireless Printer!

Can anybody recommend a local IT whizz or company to come round to my flat to set up a wireless HP printer to connect to my mac laptop?  Hopefully not too expensively!  I have tried and failed miserably to do it by myself, seems far too technical for me! Bus stop outside Hakikat - I'm confused!

There are yellow signs all over it saying 'bus stop not in use - please use the new stop 50 yards before' (or some such wording!)So where is this new bus stop?The E3 stopped at the current one today, despite the signs.  The 440 stopped further down, when someone rang the bell enough times.

Bottle/Can Deposit Return Schemes

Interesting to see this idea resurfacing!  It is just so logical that if you want the packaging to be valued you do something to show that it is.  This is for cans and plastic bottles.  The scheme works successfully in Sweden.http://news.scotland.gov.uk/News/Cash-for-trash-could-tackle-litter-347.aspx

Improvements to the Grand Union Canal path

I recall some months ago receiving the Ealing Council brochure updating residents that the council would be improving the Grand Union canal and the paths along it.  Can anyone recall what issue the article was in or is there any timeline offered for this?  There is a lot of room for improvement.

Acton Central Book Swap

I think the book swap is a great idea, i leave books there myself regularly. Maybe if an organiser could leave a pile of some please return stickers on top of the bookcase near the books so that people can stick them on their donated books this would then encourage more books to be returned especially the more popular reads.

It's Pancake Day!  Get the kids cooking...

Find a recipe that is easy.  I also heard that adding a bit of mild flavoured vegetable oil to the batter helps to stop it sticking.  I presume that (and the flavour) accounts for the butter in the following simple recipe from Xanthe Clay.Who doesn't like pancakes?  Thin and crispy or American?Uni students often don't have scales or tablespoons (or know where they are).  They usually drink tea and/or coffee and eat cereal.
