Recommendation needed for damp/ventilation problem

Does anyone have a good recommendation for someone to fix a damp/ventilation problem in bedroom. House is about 60 years old.I've been calling Iain Mantrippe AKA envirovent.com but no-one is getting back to me.Thanks

94 Bus Route

Wow that was a journey and a half today. Got the 94 bus from Acton Green this morning to Piccadilly Circus and back again. Think I am going to run home tomorrow it's going to be much quicker lol.

What additional hospital bus routes do we need (when the Ealing Hospital services are reduced)?There is a TFL appendix which will be discussed at a Town Hall meeting open to the public on  Tuesday 11 February at 6.00 p.m. in the Queens Hall. .Council say This is likely to be a very sensitive and important issue for many residents. Typical of the relevant department, nothing is shown on the front page of the Council website, nor anywhere in the Gazette.TFL sayThe Travel Analysis shows that about an estimated 2,260 would travel from Central Middlesex Hospital and 41,280 would travel from Ealing Hospital to West Middlesex Hospital annually – a total of 43,540 patients per year or about 174 per weekday, which equates to 350 daily trips assuming 2-way journeys.To extend say the E8 or E2 service to West Middlesex Hospital (cost £550-£700K) they sayFor one of these extensions to meet our current threshold for implementation it would require at least 1,250 additional trips per weekday.In other words for the numerically challenged much, much more than 350 trips per day.They conclude Given the current provision of bus services and the predicted number of trips to West Middlesex Hospital, the existing network is adequate to cater for additional demand to the hospital. Healthiest English Local Authorities have almost 1/2 the housing density & 1/5 more green space ...

Has anyone tried using the "ringo" based method of getting residents visitors permits?

I have builders at the moment and have run out of the scratch card visitors permits for them. About a week ago I applied online for another book but still haven't received them. In desperation I tried the Visitor Park By Phone system but I just can't get past the registration section. It asks for a valid current resident permit number or a council tax account number but when I put either of these in it goes to a screen asking for further documentation"You must demonstrate that you live at the eligible address. You can do this by entering a valid Resident Permit number or Council Tax account number. If you do not have a Resident Permit or Council Tax account you can upload one of the following documents (If you are unable to upload the documents, select the submit proofs by post tick box to view the address to send the documents to)."I'm assuming that if I do the above, it will then take 5 days or so to be approved etc. I can't understand why putting in my resident permit number or council tax account number doesn't work. It looks as though I'm going to have to beg one of my neighbours to let me have some of their scratch cards tomorrow (difficult as the builders bring 3 vans and are there for both hours morning and evening)Has anyone else managed to get past this? Just wondering why the wretched council have set up such an impossible to use system? Also, I see they no longer let you turn up and buy them in person at Perceval House on the same day

The Big Switch

I fnally filled in the form the other day and was told that one of the smaller suppliers could save me 300  pounds and some pennies. However, elsewhere on the internet I saw that some people had problems with this supplier. So I rang my current supplier Npower. They immediately offered to save me 250 pounds and some pennies. The call took about five minutes. No need to change any paperwork. The deal is automatic and confirmation arrived by e mail in a few minutes. I guess I am old enough to wonder why this offer wasn't made to existing customers as a loyalty bonus but presumably their actuaries know what they are doing. Try the Big Switch if you haven't already.

Horn Lane pollution: meeting on Thursday 16th

At a recent cabinet meeting Ealing Council agreed to bid for £400,000 of funds from London Mayor’s Air Quality Fund.  The Council also pledged “to formally commit to take action to improve local air quality and become an air quality exemplar borough”. The report failed to even mention Horn Lane which is by far the worst pollution hot spot in the borough.  In order to challenge the council to explain its current understanding of this pollution and to explain its plans to reduce it the Conservative opposition on the council has “called in” this decision.  This means that it will be discussed in detail at a meeting of the council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee at 7.30pm on Thursday 16th May (Committe Room 3).  If you would like to speak at this meeting please contact Mr Keith Fraser (Fraserk@ealing.gov.uk or 0208 825 7497). If you don’t want to speak please come along to listen so that the council can understand the strength of feeling on this issue. Those of us going will let you know comes of this.

Slightly weird query

An elderly relative from abroad is coming to visit us in London at the end of the month.  He uses an oxygen bottle for the night and rather than bringing one over on the 'plane would it possible to arrange one here? Can one rent such a thing?Any advice or suggestions gratefully received.

Long shot- my car was hit on Berrymead Gardens- anyone see who did it?

I know this is a long shot but someone hit my 58 plate black BMW 3 series when it was parked sometime between 7pm Friday 31st Jan and 11am Sun 2nd Feb.No note left and the damage is significant- neigh that the car is un-driveable.If anyone saw anything then please let me know.I've asked the immediate neighbours but no-one saw anything.
