Good fortune shines on the Acton Christmas Fair
To publicise this fabulous event - on Saturday, 10 December, 11am to 4pm, on The Mount in front of Morrison's/St Mary's Church - I organised the production of 7 banners. These are only allowed on park railings (so says the council - grrrr) so my options were limited. One went on the railings surrounding the Twyford Crescent park, facing the High Street, near Twyford CofE School. Unhappy with its initial position (across from the small Tesco supermarket), I moved it further down, but still on the park railings. Next day, it had totally disappeared. I was angry but resigned.This morning, I dropped off the gazebo that will form part of the FREE Santa's grotto at the fair in St Mary's Church hall. Rev. David Brammer pointed at something by the door, saying: 'Obviously your posting a banner for the fair in Chiswick didn't go down well!' When I looked puzzled, not having placed any banners in Chiswick, he explained that my missing banner had been found there and someone had kindly brought it all the way back to St Mary's (presumably because it was mentioned in the location of the fair).My much-travelled banner won't be returning to the Twyford Crescent park railings, though - I'm too worried that whoever took it down once will do so again. I think it will find a new home down from the one already on the Acton Park railings facing the High Street!BTW, did I mention that there is a fabulous Christmas fair happening on Saturday? All our traders' stalls have been taken (we actually have a waiting list!), Santa is coming (down from Sheffield) with free gifts for kids between 3 and 8, there will be free face painting, plus a gospel choir, Polish dancers, little ballet dancers and jazz carols. What more could you want?
