What is happening to manners?
This afternoon when my husband and I were walking along Horn Lane a terribly agressive fellow with a Polish accent just pushed his way between us, then turned around swearing loudly! We were not aware that he was coming up behind us.My husband, who is disabled and uses a walking stick, was almost pushed to the ground. Either this guy was on drink, on drugs or just extremey agitated, but woe betide anyone who gets in his way! Where are the Police when one needs them?This is not the only incident we have encountered in Acton unfortunately! A few weeks ago I was walking in in Market Place, my husband was a little way behind me. The pavement there is quite narrow.Anyway, 3 people were walking abreast, 2 Samoli Ladies and 1 man all chatting together. I just continued walking towards them minding my own business, suddenly the man, who was on the outside of the group near the kerb, glared at me, right up close. I had expected him to just move inside a little to let me pass, as gentlemen used to do, and because they were taking up the width of the pavement. No way, instead he stood there glaring at me. For a moment I wondered where he was going but he stood firm, just a few inches in front of me! I thought, there is no way I am walking out in the road. There we stood until he pushed past me, walked on a few paces, and called me all sorts of names! My husband wanted to say something but I told him to just ignore it - I didn't want the situation to become any worse, but we were certainly not the agressive party!What on earth is happening to people? It is making us reluctant to take a little walk along the road and streets where we have lived without any problem for over 30 years.And before someone says anything - this is not a racist post, I am just wondering what has happened to our society? Why are people so rude to one another? Why must everyone be so agressive? We notice it even standing at a bus stop, we wait patiently but end up being pushed out of the way when the bus arrives. Perhaps people from different countries are bringing their own standards, rules and regulations with them. It takes some getting used to I can tell you!
