Morrisons getting rid of Wholefood Section

Just found out today that Morrisons are getting rid of their Wholefood section.  It's only small, most people probably walk past it (it's near the bread section), but it does have a few good things.  And if anything, it's just a small token that they are interested in healthy living.Anyway I spoke to a manager along with a lady who was complaining about the same thing, the usual answer of course - Head Office have decided to "delete that section" ,"nothing I can do about it".I don't suppose it'll make much difference but if those that do use it would take 5 mins to write to Morrison's Customer Services at Head Office, maybe it'll get a stay of execution:http://www.morrisons.co.uk/Store-Finder/About-customer-services/Contact-Us/

Current disruption on the Piccadilly and District lines

At the moment there is no Piccadilly line service between Hammersmith and Green Park, due to emergency engineering work at Earl's Court. Additionally there is no service Richmond/Ealing Broadway - Earl's Court on the District line due to a person under a train at Barons Court. Please use alternative Tube lines and local buses where possible and check before you travel.

New stationers on Churchfield.

The people who owned the post office opposite the Rocket, have re-opened as W3 Stationers now that the tenants have left.They will have photocopying, laminating, greetings cards and other stationery, and a Link cash machine. They are still stocking up. I look forward to shopping there and wish them success.

Young cat found in Goldsmith Avenue

A young cat has 'checked-in' to our spare bedroom at our house on Goldsmith Avenue. He turned up on Sunday evening 9th May. He is black and white and about 5 months old. Very pretty and friendly but we have two family cats already so we are not able to keep him long-term. 07964 422 174Cat 2.jpg

Power surges

I am talking electrically, not electorally! Have experienced a couple of dips in power this evening - seemed to affect the lights, oven and Internet router but not much else (tv and computer have stayed on) - anyone else experienced them today?

Miss cat - Chiswick/Acton boarders

My friend’s cat has gone missing from The Avenue/Whellock Road/Southfield Road area.  Last seen on Monday night (3rd May).  He is a tabby with a white nose, chest and stomach and has white feet.  He’s reasonably slim with a saggy belly and although he is 12 years old, he is fairly new to the area.  He isn’t wearing a collar and is not microchipped.Please please please can people in the surrounding roads check their sheds/garages etc in case he has been locked in.  He is quite friendly but may be scared if you try to pick him up so please let me know if you have found him and I will come round ASAP! A vote of thanks

I'd like to take a moment to recognise two local councillors who didn't contest the elections, and who are stepping down: Liz Brookes and Barbara Yerolemou. Both Liz and Barbara have served with distinction for many years as councillors for their respective parties (20 for Liz, I think at least as long for Barbara), and I know the degree of personal commitment they have shown in that time. In our cynical age I suspect many people imagine it's a doddle being a local politician; it isn't, and those like Liz and Barbara who've done the surgeries, and put in thousands of hours at frequently soul-crushingly dull committee meetings (often at some personal cost), deserve thanks. Mine, anyway.

2nd Acton Scout Group - vacancies for Beavers

This group meets in the Scout hut at the end of Emanuel Avenue (at the Junction of Eastbourne Road) every Wednesday from 6.30 - 7.30.  They have a couple of vacancies for boys or girls aged 6-8 years. Just turn up on Weds if you are interested and ask for Josephine.

Looking for a man...

Ok, not exactly, but I am wondering if anyone knows the gentleman in Acton, who is elderly, and has grey hair in a 50/60's style quiff, big glasses, he always wears leather trousers and unbuttoned shirt. I used to see him all the time on Churchfield Rd, but haven't seen him for ages.Does anyone know who he is, and what has happenned to him? Thanks

Quite busy at Derwentwater at 0705...Picot (community association stalwart) was being a teller and Vlod Barchuk was already there, sporting his Angie Bray rosette, by the time we came out.So have done the deed, accompanied by virgin voter son who didn't seem excited enough to be partaking in democracy for the very first time.I can remember bouncing with glee when I first voted in February 1974
