My daughter needs an osteopath. Preferably Acton. Any recent recommendations please?

Suspended coffee comes to Acton.

I just saw this on Facebook and thought it a brilliant idea. Maybe it happens already in Acton, but I have seen no sign. So I popped into Cafe Oak Tree at Acton Central, and they are really enthusiastic about taking part and really seemed to understand the idea."We enter a little coffeehouse with a friend of mine and give our order. While we’re approaching our table two people come in and they go to the counter:‘Five coffees, please. Two of them for us and three suspended’ They pay for their order, take the two and leave.I ask my friend: “What are those ‘suspended’ coffees?”My friend: “Wait for it and you will see.”Some more people enter. Two girls ask for one coffee each, pay and go. The next order was for seven coffees and it was made by three lawyers - three for them and four ‘suspended’. While I still wonder what’s the deal with those ‘suspended’ coffees I enjoy the sunny weather and the beautiful view towards the square in front of the café. Suddenly a man dressed in shabby clothes who looks like a beggar comes in through the door and kindly asks‘Do you have any suspended coffee?’It’s simple - people pay in advance for a coffee meant for someone who can not afford a warm beverage. The tradition with the suspended coffees started in Naples, but it has spread all over the world and in some places you can order not only a suspended coffee, but also a sandwich or a whole meal.Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have such cafés or even grocery stores in every town where the less fortunate will find hope and support? walking the Thames Path

Happy New Year to all walkers, including those who have yet to lace up their boots. Our first walk of the year will be from Shepperton to Teddington via Hampton Court on 12th January. We would delighted to have your company, and if you want to try walking part of the way and going home after lunch, that will be fine. Not everyone wants to spare the whole day, but those who do find it most enjoyable.Please join our Facebook group for directions, lunch suggestions, train times etc. PM me for info. It is a fine group, with a slightly different composition every time we walk and a warm welcome for newcomers as long as they have a story to tell. Bit like the Canterbury Tales. See you there.

Spotted a notice in the window of the barbers shop by the Oaks car park, today.  It says they're moving to what used to be the computer games shop, on the Mount.Wonder if this is anything to do with the Oaks development.

acton gardens

have  noticed  that  the  steam has  gone  out  of  this project  on  south  acton  we  used  to  get  up dates nothing  since  news letter  dec 2012  i  see our  local councillor on  the  front  page has  written  to  them  ie   acton  gardens caine  house has  been  boared  up long  time  but  does  not  stop  stuff  going  on  their  also  the  blocks   next  to  south  acton overground ?????

New Bus stop outside Library

What bright spark down the council decided to place three bus stop parking bays right on the corner at the traffic lights outside the Library, with the already congested Wincheter Street/Acton Lane this is going to be an absolute nightmare for traffic turning left towards the high street. Sorry to say but they have made a terrible mistake by placing the bus stop Bays here, wake up council people and do your Homework-this just does not add up!

Filming location required - we can pay a fee

I am filming a short taster tape on the 7th Jan. We require a location that could pass for a bunker/vault/forgotten store room - ideally a location that could look as though it was built pre-World War II. It is where film footage has been stored for over 70 years so shelves stacked with boxes would be ideal but not essential. If it had no natural light that would be good. If not, we could film after it gets dark.It would need to be big enough for us to film in (presenter, sound man, director + 2 others). We would probably need the space for half a day. We have a small budget for this and could pay a small fee for location hire.So, if anyone has - or knows of - an office basement/warehouse that might fit the bill, do let me know. Am based in Acton but we could film anywhere in London.Thanks in advance,Marc

Our MP on PMQ today

I always think Angie Bray is rather a good constituency MP: strong on local issues and at least she tried on the Oaks, even if without success.But did anyone hear her on Prime Minister's Questions today?I have never heard such a patsy, party-political question, so obviously either given by the whips or dreamt up to ingratiate with them."Does the PM agree that given the success of plan A on the economy, there was no need for a Plan B?" Or somesuchHonestly, had I not been driving, I would have thrown something at the radio, or the radio at something...

Power outage Acton Hill tonight

10.30pm tonight and the power in the restaurant went off. Initially you think "did I pay the last bill" then "have we yanked out some wires" but then going outside we found that all the shops and flats above were out too.Luckily all our tables are candlelit so  we weren't plunged into darkness but with the music off and the ac off and the fridges and freezers off it was very quiet. Fortunately it wasn't at 8pm as we have been busy tonight but by 10.30pm we still had 3 tables. In true British resilience the two business ladies who had spreadsheets and business plans strewn over their table carried on by candlelight til 11pm.Great we still had a phone line but not great the modem didn't work for credit card authorisations. Great the water was on but not the boiler so no hot water.Our neighbours said that SE would arrive at midnight. Too late, we closed up the best we could hoping we'd switched and unplugged everything.I hope this is our one and only outage this year.

cold callers Orchard estate agent

I just had a cold caller estate agent from Orchard wanted to know who ow the next door flat…How dare was he to ask personnel question about the next door people just to secure a property to saleI would certainly make sure management at Orchard are aware of this ,and will expect an answer We are not amused !!!
