Can the Piccadilly line cope with more commuters?

I have very glad that TFL has been persuaded to open a new consultation on the Piccadilly line stopping at Turnham Green during the day. It has been a source of frustration to locals, particularly in Southfields for a very long time. I didn't realise that is was 30 years! I believe that the congestion on the Piccadilly line is caused mainly by travellers to and from Heathrow who don't want to pay 20 pounds sto the Heathrow Express. The line is difficult to find anyway when searching for public transport links at Terminal 1. I sympathise, but for people living close to Turnham Green, it would be a godsend of the tube stopped there a bit more often. Please reply to the consultation when it comes out.

Seamus Heaney died this afternoon.

I've just heard that we lost Seamus earlier today. I was at a poetry reading he gave with Michael Longley a couple of weeks ago in Liosdoonvarna. He seemed in very good form although we knew he had been ill. He was still writing. Ar dheis De go raibh a hanam uasal.

Why is it always the Conservative Councillors commenting on here and never Labour?

Phil Taylor often, and also Vlod Barchuk, and he's not even a Councillor any more! (At least for the time being).I know UKIP Dennehey & LibDem Malcolm also sometimes post, but we never seem to hear from the Labour Councillors??

William Hill flyers

There is no such thing as bad publicity, it is said but here goes anyway.  I've had FOUR of the same booklets/flyers put through our letterbox marked "no flyers, no junk mail".  FOUR.  Whoever they are paying to drop these cannot read and cannot do the maths.  Anyone else have this problem?

QPR Moving to Where?

QPR moving to Old Oak Common is a bit of a surprise. If Labour wins the 2015 General Election they will kill off HS2 which will kill off the Old Oak Common development. I assumed that QPR accepting the gift of 61 acres at Warren Farm from Ealing Council would inevitably result in the club moving there and building a stadium. After all what kind of club on earth needs 61 acres and 721 car parking spaces for a training ground?

Gates on Highfield Road

Just off N. Acton Recreation ground there's a triangle between the two legs of Highfield Road and Northfield Road (they weren't very imaginative when they named the roads round here) It's mostly a very rough and overgrown track that provides access to the back fences and gates of perhaps two dozen houses. Very convenient for residents and, sadly, burglars (as I know to some personal cost)  I've never been entirely sure who owns it, although I do know there's a right of access. Anyway, the burglars. Presumably because of multiple break-ins from the rear, within the couple of months, heavy black gates have appeared at the main vehicle entrance on Highfield Road and at the  narrow alleyways. So far it's just the gates, with no actual locks.Bit of a long shot but does anyone else live round this way who knows anything about this? Like when will the locks be installed and what are the arrangements for key distribution and security?Come to that, there are similar gates on quite a few alleyways round  this area. Anyone know how those schemes work?

Raising awareness of Type 2 diabetes

Interesting article on the front page.It is good to see that more attention is being paid to raising awareness of this growing problem.We have found that in a hospital situation (not Ealing) there was always someone to test blood sugar regularly but then once home it was weeks and months before any space was available in a diabetic clinic. There was/is no time for staff to commiserate over complications brought on through diabetes - as they considered it self-inflicted. MIL age 90 started to have to inject herself with insulin.You don't know how long you'll live.  Find out about it and its complications and do something before it gets you!

Amingos Gone?

Good to see work going on at the old Redback. Hope they make it a huge success (and good luck with getting the red paint off this time).But strangely as life is blown into that side of the street, Amigos (Mexian peri peri) on the other side seems to have shut the shutters.Strange as it always appeared to be busy.Further down, a new Lebanese restaurant opened 2 weeks ago at the old Siam Orchid site next to Tesco Express. Lots of shisha smoking outside then suddenly the shutters were down and its been closed for a week.Anyone know whats going on?

Young black and white cat missing

Wonder if anyone has seen our small 1-year-old black and white cat, mostly black with white paws and a white 'mask' - we have recently taken him in, and he is getting used to going out and about in the garden but hasn't returned since yesterday lunchtime.. Birkbeck Grove/Mansell Road area. We are getting a bit worried about his wellbeing.He has a pale blue collar with his name - Otto - and address, hopefully still wearing it...Thanks hugely for any help or sightings.

Barking fox

Has anyone else been woken up in the last few nights by a fox barking.He, I assume it's a male as he is quite big, sits in the middle of the road on Friars garden facing towards St Dunstans avenue barking repeatedly at regular intervals. The strange thing is that none of the local dogs seems to even wake up, including my own. Usually a fox in the vicinity  sets her off and all the other dogs join in.When I got up and went to the window to investigate he looked at me andran away.Is he advertising himself or staking a territory?

Land along A40 purchased by Notting Hill Housing

The land from Kathleen Avenue and Park view has been purchased by above organisation. I received a flyer a few weeks ago advising the residents of this. However speaking to residents in Allan way no one received anything regarding this surely they should have been notified as any development  will also affect them. My concern is that they will build yet another north Acton monstrosity directly behind my house. Does anyone know if they would be able to build a high rise block in this area?
