Acton Mainline

The ongoing saga of the lack of information at AML continues - see latest response from FGW. Please all complain to them as well. Looking for art materials/Gazebo for disability arts group

Hi everyone,Last year I posted on this forum looking for donations of art materials for the art group I help to run, the Brent Lodge Park Arts Collective (our blog is here: http://ealingartscollective.blogspot.com/ )We had a great response and had some fantastic donations and I thought that it may be a good idea to try again!We are interested in any old paints, paper, craft & hobby materials that may be cluttering up your shed or hiding in the loft. We are also looking for a gazebo tent or a small marquee for the Hanwell Carnival where we hope to have a stall this Summer. sunday night dinner near Kings X with a vegetarian.

So window of opportunity to take daughter to dinner near Kings X post Arsenal game and pre her return to Uni.But usual haunts round there: Acorn House and Kings Place, both closed Sunday evenings.She's a nut-allergic vegetarian, so ethnic - Bel Poori houses and the like are not on - the rest of us are omnivores.Suggestions really needed.ta

Home wanted for lonely Lineolated Parakeet

One of our linnies passed away a while ago and we now realise that our remaining bird, Dave to his friends, is really in need of company.  We have decided against buying a new bird and think the answer might be to find him a home, preferably local, where he can be with other birds, or even just one other, with some freedom to fly around.  We have had a kind offer of a home some distance away but would prefer to keep him local if possible, just in case he is more distressed with the change of home than being on his own.

Former Coldstream Gaurd, Michael Turner.

Does anyone have any information about Michael Turner. He lived with 1964 Chiswick murder victim Mary Fleming and had 2 children with her. He lived with Mary at Pembridge Gardens, Kensington in 1959. In April 1962 while living at Powis Gardens,Notting Hill they had a daughter Veronica Turner. In 1963 they had a son named David Turner. Mary and Michael parted and Mary and the 2 children moved to 25 Geraldine Road, Chiswick. They then moved to 44 Lancaster Gate, Notting Hill but Mary was found murdered at Berrymede Road,Acton Green,Chiswick on 14th July 1964.Mary's daughter Veronica would love to make contact with her father Michael Turner. What to do on Royal Wedding day?

Husband working all day (somebody has to at a boarding school when the academic staff don't want to be there)kids at UniMother volunteering at her Old People's Home (not in it, just working there)Many to most friends away.Watch wedding or not?At home alone no fun, at brother's in Epsom even lessIs the Rocket showing it I wonder...No Acton street parties obvious...and certainly not in my streetSo, could work but that's a bit dreary on a bunce bank holiday, do something improving and/or worthwhile(ditto)..nothing good on at the flicks.What is everyone else doing?PS this is not a request for an invitation - just ideas!

Friary Road

It's amazing to note that over the holiday on at least two of the days there was an Ealing council camera van parked with it's engine running for a few hours. There were no other vehicles parked along Friary Road because there was no reason to do so--Harrys snack bar was closed the whole weekend. What a waste, was the operator just clocking up overtime? or was he ordered to go to Friary Road just for the sake of appearances?

Old Sports equipment for a good cause.

I received this email from the lovely Amanda Mason (Ex Maples nursery)This is an appeal on behalf of APPLE in Acton Park!They are desperately short of sports equipment for the children. Sadly the  things they have keep getting stolen.  Does anybody have any stuff that the children have grown out of that you could donate and drop off to them? They particularly need bikes, skate boards, roller skates, tennis  rackets etc. Come on Folks! Good reason to have a clear out!

Traffic Lights at Acton Town Station

Notice the set of four traffic lights recently installed at the Bollo Lane/Gunnersbury Avenue T-junction at Acton Town Station, since completely removed? When finished, they stood, bagged up, for a few months. Now, without ever having being put into action, they have all been dismantled and taken away. Questions: Who decided they were necessary? How much did it cost to install them? Why were they removed? And how much did their removal cost? Lastly, was any of this reported in Ealing Council's quarterly magazine. (I never saw a word.) If not, why not? Anybody have any information about all this?...

You could listen to your local broadcaster Michael wale on LBC 11.52am, hopefully the 94 will get him into central London by 6am to start at 7am We are the only local broadcaster leading up to the TV wedding coverage. Lots of local fun and info. Even mentioning the mighty Acton till 10am

Internal Wall Insulation

Has anyone had internal wall insulation fitted and can recommend a decent company? My house was freezing during Jan/Feb and I don't want to suffer again next winter. Rated People was recommended to me but I just checked it out and there are some uncomfortable messages about it not being all it is cracked up to be.
