Angela Malik behaviour and disappointment
As the Social Secretary for The Churchfield Community Association, I was going to organise, for its members, a Private Popup Kitchen event at Angela Malik in Churchfield Road.The price was agreed at £25 per head, for a minimum of 14 and maximum of 30 people.After 3 separate visits the shop and in depth discussions with the staff, co-ordinating people, dates and payment collection from those interested, I decided to book the event.After taking my booking on a Saturday morning, a staff member asked me to call the shop on the following Monday and have a chat to Angela to discuss payment.On the Monday morning I had a call from one of Angela Malik staff members, and then Angela herself, stating that there was some changes about the charges for our event.“As we were only going to be 15 to 20 the price will have to be £37.50 not £25.00 per head “After a rather heated discussion, Angela may have been willing to negotiate for the £25.00 for 20 – 25 people but I had to guarantee the numbers and have an early start (6 pm) and an early finish.I did not want us to be rushed and pushed out!I told her that it was not what we had been told from the beginning, on 2 separate occasionsShe said we could still take part on the regular POPUP Kitchen but I didn't think it was what we would want for the event. She was not prepared to compromise any more, even for local peopleI think this is appalling behaviour from them- We had been misled about the costsAngela had a rather bullying attitude towards me and I feel she has a rather tough reputation for businessFor this reason, I decided to cancel the booking and not go head with the eventLike most of the interested parties, I was really looking forward to our little “soiree " but now feel very disappointed and put off by going to the shop itselfHave any of you had any similar experiences with them?
