Reported/suspected shooting in Ealing

Police have closed the Uxbridge Road in both directions between Drayton Green Road and Bond Street due to a suspected shooting.  This occurred around 2am this morning 16 December.

MAGIC BEFORE CHRISTMAS - The Rocket - December 22nd

The Rocket in Churchfield Road is holding a special pre-Xmas event upstairs, downstairs and out on the terrace There will be bands and DJs and local arts and artists and (apparently) elves and santas and suchlike. plus projection shows and other excitement Starts mid-day – goes on outside till 2000 and inside till late. Sounds like a local event that could be fun and worth supporting.

Car/small van help needed

Hi, I desperately need someone with a car/van(I don't drive)to take me and about 50 bags of rubbish from my teenage sons room, to the tip. Will prob need at least 2 trips. All that would be required would be someone's car/van and their ability to drive. I will load/unload. Anyone in need of some spare cash and free on a Wednesday? Or a weekend if its open. Royal Mail suffering from acute dyslexia

Are the Royal Mail suffering from acute dyslexia?  For the past five months, my bank statements have been going to NW5 and, their mail has been coming to W3.  Post codes are clearly written, so what is going on at the sorting offices?We are told to use the post code but, clearly it just doesn't work.  The cost of postage is not worth the money for the service and, the whole system is a joke.  I am not amused that bank statements go astray in this manner and, it takes at least a month for them to be re-directed.  Yesterday I received the September/October statement and, today the October/November statement.  Both having been delivered to NW5.

CPZ Milton Rd -  conflict with planning

It seems that the Council's planning dept gave consent for a driveway which allow off street parking by drivign over park of CPZ marked area in Milton Rd - Effectively this makes part of the CPZ redundant and the council has advised anyone parking there and obstructing the driveway will get a ticket! The planning teams seems to think this is quite acceptable - Julian Bell is aware of the issue and a petition will be put together for signatures in order for the coucnil to reverse this seemingly unlawful action or to provide an alternative solution. One solution would be to remove the restrictive loading (2) bays within the CPZ as these were planned for at a tiem when the CPZ effective daily time-period ran for much longer and when the shops did not have the purpose built loading bays on Chruchfirld road  - parking is becoming an increasing concern for those that pay CPZ and these cavalier unilateral actions of the planning dept have eroded this without fair process.

Looking for flat for filming (4 days, paid!)

The film is about a man's apathy and his inability to communicate with his wife.The apartment would need a bedroom, kitchen and living room. Renewing old K/new K1 parking permit

A word of warning to those who were in Zone K and are now K1 - Our parking permit runs out at the end of December. we received an e-mail from the Council reminding us, and giving us a PIN to use so that the permit could be purchased on-line. This is where the system failed - they had not taken into account that our Zone had changed, and the PIN would not work to log-in. So a phone call to the parking department, a trip to Ealing and the correct forms then sent.Yet another fine mess the Council is in.......

*Give* at the Acton Christmas Fair

News about the Acton Christmas Fair - taking place on Saturday 8 December, 10am-4pm - can be seen on this website's home page. But I wanted to point out again that, this year, we'll be providing an opportunity there for Acton residents to give as well as receive and enjoy.St Mungo's, the homelessness charity that helps people sleeping rough in Ealing, is having a big stall at the fair. It's being run in conjunction with the police's Safer Neighbourhoods team, and some police cadets will also be helping out. You'll be able to donate warm clothing - especially coats, gloves and scarves - as well as sleeping bags and unused personal items such as shaving kits and make-up.Please do bring what you can - it can get really cold out there and, with the economy being what it is, more and more people are being forced to sleep rough.

Council consultation

I received an email from one of my ward councillors last Thursday reference a drop in/consultation meeting about traffic calming measures being discussed for the Bromyard Ave area. I got this email on my work email and was not in work until Monday so missed this meeting by 4 days. I am absolutley livid, that we in this area have had no letters from the council, no notifications on lamp posts in this area and have been told the consultation perion ends on Friday 21/12 when only 2 residents from the area turned up because of poor/ NO information from the council or ward councillor. Anything to do with roads or traffic effect not just the roads it is happening on (Bromyard Avenue and Armstrong Road ) but the whole surrounding area. Ashfield Road, 3RD Avenue, 2ND Avenue, First Avenue, Sir Alexander Road, But we are not consulted. Another council bungle or is it, are they trying to hise something by there lack of transparency on this matter???? They are spending section 106 money set aside for the communityfor all the developement they have had to suffer for 5 years and still suffer now. Any suggestions please.

Terrible news about the nurse's suicide.

What an awful thing to happen and just ghastly for all concerned - especially her family.But there seems a lot of blame flying around and I am not sure that is reasonable. Would anyone factor in potential suicide when thinking about any practical joke? The Aussie presenters must be mortified: they didn't disguise voices or anything did they?Did the hospital management make a drama out of it? Doesn't sound so - but my bro-in-law, a retired consultant, says managers bully nurses - and if you weren't English, maybe even a mild rebuke would be seen as condemnation.Terribly sad for all - including the royals of course.
